Pulling Heads to Install L19’s and HKS Head Gaskets
Yeah, compression looked good but when I looked closely I noticed some tiny cracks were starting to form on the piston ringland, I figured it was just a matter of time before I had a failure.
Adding headers this time around too.

Also, ended up painting a spare timing cover wrinkle black (got tired of trying to keep polished timing covers clean), turned out pretty good IMO. I got the idea from an R35 owner: http://gtrlife.com/forums/topic/1078...e/page__st__80
Just a layer of primer, a wrinkle black coating, and heat gun. Just need to clean up a tiny bit of over spray.

Motor's in! Ended up installing revup camshafts on my DE, just need a new bolt for the exhaust camshafts, the revup bolt is too long, while the DE bolt is too short. Once the right bolt is sourced, we can finish setting the timing.
Quick update, we’ve been working on the car very intermittently, finally wrapping it up though…
The new motor’s in, timing set, turbo kit bolted up, etc.

Also polished my intake plenum & had the cold side piping powder coated a wrinkle charcoal metallic:

Haven't posted any updates recently, but I got the car back together a few months ago, have just over 2,000 miles on the new motor now, getting it re-tuned by ProEFI soon.
Just put a pair of 275/40r17 Nitto 555r's on the rear.

Quick update... car has been running rock solid, on a bit of a whim I decided to take it apart and send the turbo out to Pure Turbos (of BMW fame) for an upgrade. I talked to Charles@Pure and he said they could put something together for me that should work nicely.
They'll be adding there billet compressor wheel and a 66mm turbine wheel. I purchased a new S compressor cover that they'll be machining for the larger compressor wheel (the PowerLab kit came with a smaller E cover) and they'll be machining my original T3 1.06 exhaust housing for the larger turbine wheel. This way I won't have to modify any of the hot side of the PL kit and this upgrade should yield some worthwhile gains.
I shipped the turbo out on Monday, should get it back sometime next week.

So, no dyno tuning yet... but I took the car out to make a few pulls on a back road just to get a preliminary feel for the car and make sure the AFR was sorted out.
Couple things I've noticed:
1. I've had to make very little adjustments to my AFR
2. My exhaust back pressure ratio has dropped fairly significantly, I was previously seeing a ratio of 2 to 2.2, with the new 6266 upgrade I'm seeing an exhaust back pressure ratio of 1.6-1.7
3. I'm making 1.5 to 2 psi of boost over my target boost level

I made almost 100whp over my old gt3582r that came with the powerlab kit!!
