5AT (automatic transmission) Owners With Forced Induction Please Read
A buddy and I installed my Transgo kit. It was done on jack stands...garage type setup. The whole process beginning with draining the ATF ending with refilling the tranny...took around 8 hours. Neither of us had ever worked on an automatic tranny before. You can do it if you research it enough and print out a few different instruction booklets.
Yes, running it without the TC being locked will produce more heat but its better than heat coming from slipping clutches/band.
i've done the VB upgarde, and IMO don't go for it if u have 350whp+... it doesn't do much really.. you'll be better off beefing up ur tranny instead, or even swap in a 6MT.
upgrading shouldn't take more than couple of hours. i'd say 4 to 5hrs including removal/installation of the VB.. cost wise, i paid around $200, but mechanics here charges are different.

I had mine done locally (WA) and it was 7-8 hours labor. Depending on the labor rate of the mechanic expect around ~7-800 for install.
Transmission definitely does not come out of the car for the install so if you spoke to a shop, received an estimate and that's what they told you go then I'd go somewhere else.

It is easy as long as you follow the directions.
The trans fluid is not cheap.
If you have up-rev tune just try the reprogramming
with your tuner it works great. I installed the valve body
kit as well as having the reprogramming.
Big difference and you will need an external trans cooler as well.

Can you recommend me the shop? I need to upgrade my VB too. I live in Lynnwood/Edmond, thank =)

Reviving an old thread. I cannot remember which of the hard lines is in or out. Does anyone remember?
Also, has anyone replaced the hard lines? My trans cooler currently runs a line clamped onto the hard line. I'm going to look in the FSM but I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has already done this.

replaced lines with SS braided -6an....I can't remember why, but I had to have some spcial fittings welded to attach the an lines to the at body...regardless, it was easy with a welder....I cant remember either which is in or out...
