Cool~!

Now...figure out how to stuff that inside your Safeguard John.

It's called the Smart Spark, by Digicon. Not much on the web about them, though, so I don't know if they are still around. The one I have is from '91. I was amazed when I put it on the bench, and saw that it would advance the timing. They must be triggering on the other edge of the signal.

It's a one channel unit, so it wouldn't work on a 350Z. They were about $300.

Here is my question as I am strongly considering the J&S..Can the E-manage SAVE your engine in the result of BAD gas or Heat Soak detonation??For example, you DYNO TUNE in March in 60degree weather and pull your timing with the e-manage and everything is ok for a while..Then your sitting in 100 degree weather and the engine is running a little hotter than it was in March and now you do a WOT run and begin to detonate(which by the way 80% of people have no clue what detonation sounds like) is the Greddy E-manage going to respond by pulling the timing in the Cylinders that are detonating , thus saving your engine???

No, the eManage lacks any auto-retard feature when knock is present, since the eManage doesnt tap the knock sensor.

This is the one big advantage of the J&S, and its safeguard capability, over the eManage.

Has anyone installed the J&S on a Greddy TT kit yet?

So then you CAN use the J&S for timing and the Greddy for fuel only right??

anybody have the J&S on the Greddy TT and how easy is it to adjust timing? Also can you adjust per cylinder banks?

350Now, you cant manually adjust the timing per cylinder. However, in SafeGuard mode, once detonation is detected, it will retard in the individual cylinder that is knocking.

But you can tune the timing based on boost with the J&S and have the knock retard there as an added safety feature in case you DO experience knock..The J&S seems to be the best solution for timing and spark tuning I could find...

Hey whats up GQ?

Do you remember me bringing up this topic a month or two ago? I remember it getting shot down.. i think even by you.. mentioning it was a waste of money to have redundancies.. remember? I was just wondering what sparked the change of heart?

Anyway.... ive been doing nothing since I last talked to you... Saving up... still on course to order the AEBS stroker kit for the 5th of July....

If anyone has some good info on what to do to the internals (ceramic coatings, dlc's, cryo) let me know where to get it.... Ive been reading up on everything i can.

And I KNOW this might sound crazy.... but I'm going to build the engine myself... yup..... im a dern fool! Its my summer project... or however long it takes project.... slow and steady... doing it the right way... with as much info as I can post for you guys.

The Powerhouse Racing MAP ECU and the J and S safeguard?? You can read all about the MAP ECU here: http://www.powerhouseracing.com/

Basically, this would give you all the options of the E-manage as well as get rid of the MAF and switch you to a speed density setup. I don't own a G yet, will soon, but this is the engine management setup I was thinking about going with. Any opinions or suggestions?

NO change of heart Bruschijr,

I never said it was a waste of money..I just though most people could accomplish 95% of what's needed with the $30 ignition harness from Greddy

And I still maintain it would be reduntant to have the J&S and the ignition timing harness. You should only hook up one timing device to those ignition wires.

And like I said before, I would be very intersted in the J&S for it's "Safeguard" capabilities, but I have yet to see a 350Z installation except on Jessie English's car. Once more people have installed them and confirm it runs safely, without blowing coils, then I might consider buying it. That's all. Some people have also mentioned a slight hesitation when using the J&S.

Just Jessies? There's a bunch of people on here that are running the J&S without problems. I ran it on my car with 10psi and it worked pefectly fine. I sold mine when I sold my SC, but I'm going to buy another one shortly. I've used it on a Maxima too and it saved our a*s a few times.
