Default billet oil pan or oilcooler

i was wondering if anybody would be interested in a billet oil pan with cooling fins, or would there be more interest in a billet addapter and a front mount oil cooler with remote filter. going to make the oil pan hold at least 1 quart more. anybody interested?

well, the car already has an oil cooler built in, and JWT makes an oil pan spacer that adds a quart capacity for less than $100, so I'd have to say the billet oil pan.

Question about that oil pan spacer. Obviously, more oil is better, for better heat capacity, and less percentage contamination, but does it appreciably lower the clearance of the oil pan from the ground? And, are there other benefits of more oil capacity that I can't think of?

Thanks
Dave

Assuming the quality can be proven, I would be interested in both!! Wasn't another member working on a kit based on a Sertab oil cooler - that would be sweet...

All the oil pans that hold an extra quart list for like $500++ which is too pricey. What could you produce it for?? The pan should also have internal bafflles to prevent cavitation....

The oil is cooled by radiator fluid. There is a water line that runs through an adapter between the block and filter.
I have the oil pan spacer from JWT, it doesn't appreciably lower the clearance. the underbelly tray still fits on the car.

just wanted to see how many people would be interested before i go through the trouble of making one or the other. i would like to make enough to try and off set the cost a little. once you set the machine up it is easy to run more than one, the cost is in all the set up and fixtures.

You guys may well be interested in the APS high volume air cooled oil pan..........holds approx 1.25 quarts of additional engine oil and has significantly more internal baffling to reduce oil surge.

The MSRP is likely to be under $400 including all mounting hardware and oil pick up spacer..................I doubt there will be a better high volume air cooled oil pan produced for the Z engine........at any price.

I was hoping around $400 maybe less. I haven't sat down with my friend to see how much we can make them for. I know the piece of aluminum is going to be about $80 before we machine it. I was going to make it like a big fined heat sink so air cooled it.

350zer, to echo esemes thought cost is the issue and $300-$400 is still o the high side. If you can make a reasonable markup for yourself, and sell something of high quality for $200ish range, that would be reasonable.

That's what I understand similar pans go for with Honda, Mustang Tuners, and that's with brand names behind them....

I'm the member that is working on a Setrab based oil cooler kit.

The final cooler fitment is this coming weekend, and I will start a group buy next week as soon as I apply for forum vendor status. I intend to post a thread this weekend with technical data, install pictures, and pricing information.

people are paying $100 for a spacer that i would say took about 3 min. to run on a cnc mill. machine time on what i want to make is going to be around 20 min. with at least 3 set ups. that spacer is one simple set up.

350zer,

I was surfing around looking at what other car-lovers have to pay for expanded capacity oil coolers - $200 can get you a nice oversized pan with fins for other cars - albeit cast.

I can only presume that based on some of the prices tuners are coming up with, that there are probably many Z owners paying top dollar for what I think of as "automotive jewelry" $3000 titanium headers here - polished plenums there - I am not in that market segment. All I want is the performance improvement. If the spacer works for $100 then it does represent a value that's hard to beat.

My final bit of feedback is that as the price creeps up, my interest drops sharply. Maybe a CNC-machined unit would then be too luxurious for my needs.
