Default Procharger Oil Change III

I now have 12,800 miles on the car but I got the Procharger at about 5000. I changed the oil in the blower at 500 miles then after another 2000 miles. I now have 7.8K on the blower and did the third oil change.

Every time I do it, I take more and more short cuts. As you may recall, I did it without removing the bumper or the wheel and wheel well, or without jacks or ramps. All I did was remove the front belt to gain better access to the plug on the very bottom of the blower.

See this thread:
http://www.350zfrenzy.com/forum/show...ger+oil+change

This time, I did it without even removing the belt! I managed to get my hands in there and using the same angled closed 5/8 wrench, I was able to get it done.

I again used a plastic bag to catch the draining oil. The good news is that there was absolutely NO metal flakes. None in the oil or stuck to the magnetic drain plug.

I also switched the belt back to the "over the top" position in relation to the tensioner pulley. I had put it under the pulley before since it seemed to make sense that the smooth side of the belt should contact the smooth pulley and not the toothed side.

I was on the phone with ATI (to order the 9 psi pulley and they recommended the over the top position.

The easiest method is the syringe. ATI sells them for this kit. It takes all of 5 minutes max. I'm surprised you don't have this yet. There is no need to move or even touch any belts. Simply stick it in the screw hole and suction it up.

I too have done 3 changes but I only have 4K on the kit and 10K on my car. I did it the two extra times just to check how efficient the syringe was. It works perfectly!

Yes I know all about it. We had a long discussion about this before. As I remember, many were worried (after seeing the results of my first oil change) that you can't thoroughly clean out all of the metal flakes (especially the ones stuck to the magnetic plug) with the syringe method.

Also, I don't think you ever REALLY get the blower completely cleaned out of old oil with the syringe.

It only takes me about 20-30 minutes so I think it's worth it for my piece of mind.

I was skeptical as well, that is why I changed it 2 other times where it was completely unecessary. However, I had to do it just to check it out for myself. I am sure you noticed a drastic change this past oil change form your last two...

The oil still has that silvery color to it but there is no metal flecks in it at all now.

What have you noticed about yours as you did the most recent change?

Also, I noticed in your sig line you list your RWHP and your psi. Do you have the 9 psi pulley from ATI and if so, why are you only making 8.2? Also, how do you get the 10 psi you say is "coming soon?

Have you upgraded your injectors and fuel pump? ECU flash? If not, what have you done to address the timing?

Thanks.

I had no silvery color during my last change. However, the first two changes I did see this. I also had a few flakes on the first change. The last one was as clean as a whistle, just a little darker than when I put it in.

Yes I do have the 9lbs pulleys and a reflashed ECU with PE 380 injectors, areomotive afr, walbro 255 pump and a return line. The reflash increased my rev limiter to 7.2K so I was able to hit 8.2 psi with the stock 7lbs kit. With the 9lbs pulleys I am able to hit 10psi with the increased rev limiter. Currently I have 19-21 degrees timing at wot.

Thanks. That is about where I am going to be (all the things you mentioned) hopefully by the end of the summer.

So now that you are at 10 psi, what is your RWHP?

Also, are you saying that your recently changed oil was still that clear greenish color, only darker?

Mine (all three times) was silver colored.

I haven't dynoed at 10PSI yet. I also wont have the chance to do so before adding a couple other items. I should have the car back this week and dynoed by Saturday.

Concerning the oil, it had no silvery color during the last change. Only a darker version of the (green/brown) like how it comes from ATI. My advise would be to buy the syringe and try it. If you are concerned about the ability of the syringe, just change your oil a little sooner than the reccomended intervals.

Thanks again. I may just do that. It isn't really THAT hard to do it the way I do, but you sure do beat the hell out of your hands, wrists, and forearms!
