Default New times, hello 12sec club

Well just got home a few hours ago from Drag Warz held locally in Bradenton, FL. After my much anticipated valve body upgrade, I managed to make a couple 12 sec passes. I was on 100 octane with 5degrees timing retard at 9psi. Also I was icing my plenum and compressor after every run. The plenum actually had condensation on the top of it before I ran. I unfortunately broke out in bracket racing with a 12 sec pass. Videos are uploading now...

BTW, Craig

HOw is the VB exactly... do you feel the shifts being faster (i.e. do you notice the rpm needle jump back much quicker during shifts) and are the significantly firmer (can you chirp 1-2?).

Thnx

The valve body is a good mod especially for FI. I had problems with the car clamping the gears on partial throttle shifts. That's gone. The gear changes with more force but still cannot chirp gears. Stillen did the valve body. The 1-2 shift is hard, even at low speeds, not a fan of this. Same with 2-1 shifts.

My times before the valve body were averaging 13.2, with a best of 13.07. My times before would go up after every run I believe due to the heat of the tranny. Cost was 700 for the vb and $150 for labor and parts, tranny lube was $80 alone.

Nice times ! I think its weird that you have a 5-6 mph advantage 1/8 over my n/a bolt-on Z but you only pull 1 mph higher by the 1/4. Yet you run way faster. Your car must have some sick mid range....nice work.

I don't get it either really. The only strange thing is that I was leaving the car in D and it was shifting itself at about 7200rpm. I get higher trap speeds when I shift it at 6600rpm. I would never shift it that high on the street but I was running 100 octane and felt safe. I'll try it next time at redline shifts in MM mode and let you all know.

Did you also have to pay the $150 shipping/insurance fees that Stillen charges? I am very interested in this mod as well. Is it worth the price tag? I guess .1 sec in the 1/4 is worth it? Do you have a torque converter? (I can't remember)
