Its getting pretty cold in New Mexico. I get off work at 3:30 in the morning. I warm up my car pretty good before I take off. Is it bad to get on the throttle in cold weather? (25-35 degrees F)
When you get into the car you must realize that the oil that is in the engine is at the bottom, and is probably cold and “hard” (like cold saturated fat that forms around meat in the fridge)…you can start the car, but do not drive immediately, because your engine starts to move when you crank it up, but it is moving without oil (this is why you MUST warm up your car) many people say “WARM UP YOUR CAR” without giving you a reason (well I just gave you one)...but do not 'OVER WARM " your car... yes you can do this...this is more complex to explain but basically do not warn your car up over 5 minutes.
During the summer I would recommend you warm up the car for at least 35 seconds…(yes 35 is the minimum)…during the winter it takes about 1 minute and 50 seconds for the oil to reach the top of the engine…so I recommend a 2 min. minimum warm up time…(as a side note, I don’t even start my car when I go to the store, because if it’s close enough I’ll just walk and save the engine a little)DON'T…I REPEAT DO NOT REV your engine during the warm up period, because you are making the engine work harder with no oil…I’ve seen so many people do this during the winter, and it’s just not good (I don’t get on their case, because there was a time that I didn’t know this as well).

your boost level will go up also . In the summer you may make 8lb's and when its 35 degree's you may make 9lb's . And with the denser air you may run leaner also . Just some thing to be aware of. Bill
