Drilling intercooler vents in stock G35c bumper?
The stock G35 coupe bumper is solid in the lower valance in front of where my Vortech intercooler is located. I can't see how any decent airflow will get to it. I don't want to change out the bumper. Has anyone drilled out vents in this area or are there any kits to do this neatly and with small protective grills?
nope - everyone is just going with one of the front bumpers out there that replace the factory piece with a different design that utilizes a large center opening for the intercooler (ie GReddy)
It seems like two discrete holes (about 2 1/2 " diam each) would improve ventilation without too much effect on the lines being very low down on the bumper, under the plate. I wonder if they make some kind of pop-in, grilled vents.
Sounds like a custom job unless you go with an aftermarket piece like the others have done.
Maybe contact a body shop and see what kind of a quote they can give you for this work. I think it's the best way to make it look nice and since there will probably be some painting, it might be easier for one shop to do everything.
Good luck on it.

How did you make the cut out precisely? I assume the dremel was to smooth out the inner edges. I don't see an obvious picture of the rectangular cutout in your link.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I presume you mean the lower holes. It looks in the picture like the license plate was raised higher about about 2 inches. Did you use a template for the cutout or did you just eyeball it by hand? The rectangular opening, if I'm seeing it right, is exactly what I was thinking--discrete but functional.
