Default Looking to buy a g35

Hello, this is my first time posting here.

I recently graduated college and have a lucrative job (engineering). I'm going to test drive a g35 coupe 6MT tomorrow, and I have a few questions. I plan on getting the premium package probably, and the spoiler.

1. What kind of financing can I expect from Infinity? I have near perfect credit and have been establishing credit since I was 17 (I'm 22 now). I haven't gotten a credit report yet, but I've only ever had one late payment and never carried a balance. I expect to put 5-7k down and kbb/edmunds say my trade in (92 ES300) is about 2k.

2. Is the navigation worth it? I don't think I can afford this but will look at it anyway. I wanted to get some opinions on it.

3. Is the Bose system much of an improvement over the standard stereo system? I noticed the only difference is that it is Bose and there are 2 more speakers.

4. I know Lexus dealers will let a potential sale take a care over the weekend to make sure they really want it, will Infinity let me do this? I'll be shopping with my father.

Thanks for your help and if you have any other tips they would be much appreciated. This is my first time buying a new car.

I would stay away from the Bose, anyday, at any cost...

I recently test drove 03 and 05 G35 6MT coupes. IMHO Bose sucks. I am looking to upgrade from an 03 RSX Type-S. The Bose in it sucks too!!!

I am unable to decide between the anniversary Z and the G35. If I go with the G35, I am not getting any options. The only thing I would want from the premium package is the auto-dimming rear view mirror.

1. I'm not certain about financing. I went through a credit union for mine. Typically if you can get pre-approved for a loan and let the dealer know about it, they will try to break that rate and get you something lower.

2. Sorry, I'm in Hawaii, we don't get navi down here so I can't answer this question.

3. Bose is not worth the money you spend to upgrade to it. You are better off going aftermarket and spending the money on the system you want.

4. Not sure about this either. I suppose if the dealer wants your business enough they will consider it. Only way to know is to ask.

BTW I too feel the only good thing about the premium package is to get the mirror (which also has Homelink). I bought an 04 6MT coupe so I got pretty much everything I wanted (leather, Brembos, etc.) and everything I didn't (like to sunroof, pricey headunit "upgrade", etc.).

Good luck.

Bose sucks if you're into loud music and heavy bass. It's not going to be like an aftermarket system but Bose is good for the average person. I'm 28 years old now and I am passed the stage of putting a subwoofer in my trunk so for me the Bose is awesome. As far as the navi goes, definitely get it. I got it on mine and I'm glad. I use it all the time. I can't tell you how many posts I've read from people on boards that all said that they wished they got the stock navi. It's a mistake not to get it. As far as financing goes, I put down 15k and my rate is around 5 and I pay $500 a month.

I hate to break to you, but if you want the premium package you are going to get the bose. Too bad Infiniti does not let you pick and choose certain options. Bottom line if you want the auto-dimming mirror you going to pay for the premium package which brings the bose.

I have two car with Nav because they truly are worth the extra cost. In order to get the same functionality you'd pay just as much for an aftermarket module plus you'd have to do a custom installation.

You can probably get away with a less expensive portable version but they typically don't contain all the N. America roads and require you to upload maps for the area you are visiting.

The Infiniti Navigation system pails in comparison to what is offered by other manufacturers such as Honda/Acura, Mercedes, etc.... but I would still recommend getting it.

It's more than just a Navigation system, in the sense of telling you how to get from point A to point B.... It also offers you real-time fuell economy monitoring along with a historical chart of your past test-intervals, in addition to a little adjustable maintenance scheduler that will tell you when you need to do an oil and/or filter change. There are also some built in warnings to the Nav system, such as if you were to try to drive the car with one of your doors open(I'm not sure as to what all the other warnings are that it does). The clock on the Navigation system is also much easier to see than the crappy analog one that they put on the dash... and overall, the Nav system is probably the most attractive thing about your car to your passengers. Women love it and your other guests will be entertained by it, and might be less inclined to fiddle with the rest of the vehicles interior controls.

I think the BOSE system is nice on the G35 coupe, i used to own a 2004 fully loaded but Nav. I got rid of it because i couldnt afford the payments.

The bose system hit hard in my car

I have been establishing my credit since 18 (now 22), i got my G when I was 21, I put down 10g's. I went through my bank ,Becu (boeing credit union) for my loan. They approved me for up to 35g's at an apr of 4.7, that is the second lowest rate they offer (lowest being 3.9)

first of all, welcome to the board.

i assume you're for whatever reason, you're set on getting a new G35. So here are my thoughts:

I definitely suggest you get it with navigation. It'll help your resale a little but it's actually a useful tool, especially on long trips or in areas you're not familiar with. Personally, I love knowing exactly where i am and whats around me. On top of that though, there's safety/security issues. Plus time. You'll spend much less time being lost, to me thats worth a lot. As far as safety goes, look at it this way: it'll keep you out of places you dont want to be and if something unfortunate does happen to you, you'll know where you are when you call for help. Thats good b/c otherwise people couldnt really help you, right..?

So anyway, you mentioned that you werent sure that you could afford the navi option. I will assume by that you mean that you would be stretching what a luxury car is worth to you ..and not that you couldnt keep up with the payments. If its the former i understand. if its the latter I suggest you reconsider buying the G. it would be a bad idea (financially) to put yourself that close to the limit of what you can afford.. and judging by your spelling of infiniti im not sure that you're an enthusiest who might get the most enjoyment? forgive me if i'm wrong,I'm just giving my thoughts. IF its a question of worth however, i think it (navigation) is a good idea.

btw I was 22 when I purchased mine. No regrets at all...and i would do it again, but if i weren't such an enthusiest i wouldnt bother. it just wouldnt be worth the cost..even though affording it isnt a problem.

Anyway on the bose i think its worth it, it gives you the amplifier, so it all sounds better. If youre thinking about dropping the premium package i definitely suggest you reconsider.. dual a/c, auto lights, bose, sunroof.. all nice features imo and that would definitely hurt resale

Your financing rate will be determined by many factors of your credit history. Infiniti is beacon driven and they do look at your high credit term. Rates have been rising in the past few months, so expect to have rates starting in the high 4's. My suggestion is to get a rate from the dealer and then compare with your credit union.

Calculate your monthly payments with and without the navigation. Play around with the figures, such as down payment and different rates. On a 60 month term, rule of thumb is every thousand dollars is about 20 dollars in your monthly payment. Not 100% accurate, but it gives you an idea.

I would highly recommend shopping through the internet. Get your best quote from them in writing and then come in to the top three dealerships to finalize the negotiation. Saves you alot of time!!!

The advantages of a base G35 are the following:
--Lighter
--Less expensive
--Stock radio is pretty good and speaker system is modifiable, unlike the Bose
--Much better headroom (no sunroof)

Disadvantages for me:
--Would like navigation but not worth the money IMHO (I've got a PDA nav system instead--works fine)
--Would like the autodimming rear view mirror

My base G is still luxurious, tight and awesome. I'm glad I didn't get the extra do-dads--just my personal opinion.

Well I have test driven the G35 a couple of times and I love it.

I went to Infinity of Ardmore (PA) and talked numbers with them. With sunroof, Aero pkg, and trunk mat, they made me an initial offer of 35480 with 2000 for my trade in. They then offered me 2500 for my trade in and took another 500 off the price, which brought it down to 32277 after trade in. I didnt fill out a credit application, but they said they have a recent grad discount, which should bring it down a little from 5.9%. I can also get a loan through AAA for 5.24%, which is what I'll probably go with unless I can find a better rate.

I then went to Winner Infinity in Newark (DE), where I had already test driven once with my father. I went by myself yesterday. I wasn't thrilled with how I was treated, and I felt like they didn't take me seriously (this was my third visit by the way). Previously, another sales rep had told me I could take a G35 overnight for a better feel/test drive of it, but when I went yesterday the sales manager told me that its too hot of a commodity to allow them to go overnight (maybe this was an excuse for not letting a 22 year old take it overnight?). They also wouldn't let me take it out for the afternoon by myself, which I thought was a little unreasonable considering I am showing alot of interest in the car.

The sales rep also seemed like I was hassling her when I asked to listen to one of my cds in both the standard radio and the Bose system. Overall, I felt like they didn't really want to sell me a car, and that they didn't take me seriously as a customer. I suppose I will go back with my father to see what their best offer is, but I anticipate that I will go with Infinity of Ardmore, even though it is almost 1.5 hours away. The customer service at Winner Infinity just didn't seem to live up to the Infinity name. The people at Ardmore were all very nice to me, and everyone that passed by said hi, whereas at Winner, salespeople would walk by without even asking me if I needed help.

Anyways, about some of the options. I didn't think the Bose system sounded much better than the standard stereo. It did sound better, but did not seem worth the huge price tag. I like the auto-dim mirrior and dual zone climate control, but I don't think these are worth $1400 more. However, it seems that it is almost impossible to find a 6MT without the premium package, so I may have to go with this (it will only be about $25 more per month).

To answer someone else's question, it is not that I can't afford the NAV system, as it is more that I don't feel it as a necessary option and by adding it it would not allow me to save as much while I am trying to save to buy a place in a year or two.

Anywho, does the price offer from Ardmore sound decent? I'm sure I can scrape a little more out, but is that a reasonable offer? Thank you.

Kevin

If you want, I can give you my brothers number. He works over at Infiniti of West Chester. He can pretty much match any deal that you get at Ardmore (they are sister dealerships).

As long as you have good credit you should be fine.

As far as the Nav goes that's a decision for you to make. Some like it, some don't. I opted not to get it since it seemed inferior to other units on the market (for example, in the Acura TL). I will say it does make the interior look nicer, and it's a cool feature. But you have to ask yourself how much you really will use it. Is it worth the extra $2000 (which could be 15-20 more per month in payments?) I'm happy with out it. I enjoy spending time in my car. If I get lost, it just means I have more time to spend driving one of the finest machines on the road.....

One other thing to check out....where do you work? You may qualify for the VPP program that would make buying the car a whole lot easer..

Ok, a couple of things....

1. You definitely want the navigation. It is well worth the 2 Gs or so that Infiniti charges... I regret not waiting for one with navi, i was impatient

2. The Bose is a noticeable improvement over the base stereo... trust me, you'll want the bose also...

I bought mine from West Chester, however, I know the guys at Winner (in Newark) quite well, and they'd probably be willing to cut you a deal... let me know and I'll pass along your info to them

My suggestion to you would be to spend some time in/around Gs so you can decide what features are important to you... you should come out to one of our meets... we have one tomorrow, but this is probably much too short of notice for you!

http://g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58270

Either way, let me know if I can be of any help to you... and, like I said, you should come out to a meet, even if you don't have a G yet, we'd love to have you!

Good Luck!

You do not factor in the fact that you cannot get the NAV without premium pk. The best way to go is base and save your money for add on. The Tom-Tom nav looks sweet and you can use it in multiple cars. 32655 for base w/sunroof and splash guards. 750 over invoice @5.99% Black on Black. Will make the deal tomorrow.

I bought a 05 6mt Sedan.. I got it with 4100 miles on it for $25,875...
It has no options but Sirrus and the 6MT package..

I did not care for the nav unit so I was not bothered by not having it..

You can add Navagition and a auto dimming mirror, but AERO package is very expensive from the dealer as an add on..

ALso, I paid cash so no interest for me..
