Not answering your question... but the problem lies with 6MT cars because many of us 6MT drivers like to put it in neutral when we know we have to stop soon (ie, coming off a freeway/highway). This lowers the RPM low enough to where it can possibly stall the car.

For the 6MT folks, it's not a problem if you raise your idle RPM or learn to downshift when slowing down.

Since you're 5AT, your engine will never drop it's RPM to idle as long as the car is moving.

I have been driving a manual for about 13 years... I have always preferred to leave it in gear when braking, to help preserve the brakes. As RPM's drop, drop to a lower gear, like 3rd... which will get you pretty close to stopped. I guess that is why my JWT never stalls, I don't put my car in neutral (or full clutch engage) going 140, but I guess that is just me

I downshift as well, as opposed to neutral.
Maybe I will look into this some more.

I've been trying to downshift more often. I used to just pop it in neutral everytime I slowed down. I think I'm getting the hang of it.

I had this problem with my 5AT--it was because the filter was not on tight enough.

Lol, that didn't take very long. Did you already have it when you asked the question? You only asked this question 1 day ago. Congrats!
