Default Popcharger

I know there has been 6 million posts on this mod. I know this b/c I think I read most of them. But I assumed that you only notice the sound above 4k rpm, but my whistle starts around 2.5k. It is a very cool sound. I find myself reving the engine more and more and shifting later and later to hear the sound more and more.

It has been said before and I will say it a again. This a really cool mod for your car.

Yup, definitely cool.

I don't really pay attention much to the whistle though since the cars revs can drown it out most of the time.

My favorite sound from the intake is when you blip the throttle or lightly press the gas to accelerate. You get this *Fisss* *Fissss* sound of the throttle body opening and closing.

ive been looking at those pop chargers for a while and finally asked the mechanic who works on our volvo what he thinks of it and asked him to install it for me. he told me that installing a cold air intake is the difference between making your car run all the time and making your car walk all the time. and that it would ultimately take some of the life out of your car. i didnt belive anything he said, but u guys have any input on his answer?

realy any preformance mod takes life out of your engine. the popcharger lets more air in but then the engine runs leaner but that means more power. if it gets too lean its a bad thing. but its not guna happen with a little popcharger. i say that it might be the differance of say 200.000 with out and maybe 199,900. you can always get your ecu reprogramed to acomdate the new found flow of air. but dont worry about that untill youve done all your mods. not nesicary for just a popcharger.

zmanson: Myself and a buddy installed it. The hardest part is taking the stock air box out and installing the heat shield. My buddy is better at this stuff than I am, so he was a great help, but as others have said on this board, it isn't that hard.

I find myself listening to my stereo less and less since I installed the Popcharger and Spacer. And I've have had a nice sounding stereo since fall... I just love that growl

Cambelsoop,

Throughout the year and a half that i've owned my Z, I've heard over a half a dozen Internet soundclips with the popcharger from in-cabin to out, and drive by's .

Nothing will mimick how it actually sounds in person. It is a whistle-sucking sound that is mixed in with an ensemble of engine growl and exhaust. Your typical camera recorder can't catch that balance. It muffles it up so you don't quite capture how distinctive it is.

Just keep that in mind when someone posts a clip.

Is this right? I would have assumed the ECU takes into consideration the MAF (The sensor that monitors how much air is flowing into the engine) and would add the needed fuel to keep the A/F correct...I thought that intakes mainly reduce the air resistance and thus allow more air/fuel into the engine. (for dry Nitrous applications, don't the base end systems just inject N2O before the MAF and allow the ECU to add the needed fuel? The stock fuel pump/injector/pressure reuglator can usually add enough fuel for small dry N2O shots)

I could be totaly wrong on this...I've only had my Z for 3 weeks.

The Popcharger only comes with the cone filter and the heatshield.

I'm quite sure you can put a pipe from another cai if it connects to the maf housing that attaches to the JWT filter. The brand name escapes me right now, but you can also purchase just a polished or Carbon fiber pipe that replace the stock one.

I doubt it will change performance but I'd avoid a polished pipe. Since the JWT is not REALLY a cai, you want to keep the pipe as cool as possible. A metal polished pop would retain too much heat.

The popcharger performs like it should with just the stock pipe.
