Default jwt popcharger whinning, screeching noise

Hello all,

I installed the JWT popcharger yesterday, and I am hearing a "whinning" "screeching" noise. Its not the normal suction noise, I am use to that on my other vehicles, this one is a whinning , screeching sound. It is not constant and seems more apparent at WOT. I just want to see if this is normal of did i connect something wrong or tighten something too much.

I did check to make sure that nothing was rubbing or touching. As always any input would be appreaciated.

P.S I know with the installation of some products, you have to reset the ECU, is that the case with this JWT Popcharger, if so, how do i do it on the Z?

thanks

Nigel

you dont need to reset the ecu...my popcharger whistles between like 3 & 5 RPM. it almost sounds like a turbo whistle. It is not to loud, but just loud enough for me to notice..

Thanks rollin350z,

So the "whinning" is normal? are there other people hearing this as well, or is it only on some of the JWT popcharger installs?

thanks

I think it is normal. When I first installed the JWT, it sounded almost like running your fingernails across a chalkboard. The sound would last for like a second and then stop and start up again. After a day or two, you will get used to the whistling sound and you gotta remember, you are hearing this sound while inside your car driving with the gas pressed, so you are getting a lot of road noise, engine noise, etc... You should pop the hood and have a buddy gas your car in neutral, then you can really hear what the sound is.

Same here there is a slight whistle while at WOT. It does sound slightly like a turbo. Man I better not get addicted to that sound $$$

Mine doesnt whine...its hisses or whistles when you step on the gas at idle or if you are accelerating around 2800 RPMs and then i cant hear it anymore after about 4,000 RPM's because it turns into a roar.
