Default ? about nismo intake

i was just wondering if you have to remove anything to install the nismo cold air intake and also if you have to take off anything when your driving around. i think i have read that you have to remove the inner wheel well is this true?? i was hoping to get one but did not want to risk what comes off the tires to get in there. thanks for any answers that are useful

and yes i have done a search. there are various answers on the first question but i dont know about removing parts and leaving them off? thanks in advance

the only thing you have to remove is the air filter box and tubing. to do the install i recommend taking the front bumper off. makes the whole thing so much easier. don't have to remove the inner wheel well. the kit should also come with a bypass valve. double check fitment on that to the tube as the bypass valve shipped witht the intake in the ealier boxes were to small to fit. you have any other questions pm me.

thanks a lot for answering my question. if you look at the thread again could you tell me if you are glad you got yours, or would you rather have spent the money elsewhere or on a different intake? also where did you get yours from thanks again for all the great info above

i ad the nismo and was happy with it. although i did change it to a JWT intake cause i bought a varis cf air duct. if i didn't buy the air duct then i would still use the nismo. got it on ebay from a nissan dealership.

any intake, including the nismo, will void your warrenty from nissan if anyone at the dealership wants it to.

Actually that is complete BS. Due to Federal Law, a dealer can not discredit the warranty unless the problem was specifically caused by that part.

yes
only reason you even need to remove that lining is to attach the filter to the pipe

Actually... they can pretty much blame anything drivetrain related on that intake.. if your gearbox goes, well it is because you are making more power than stock. if the rings cook it is because the intake altered your air fuel ratio and leaned the motor out etc etc. about the only thing that would still be ok is your suspension and window regulators.

some people even get a hard time when they have aftermarket wheels on the car. (often times more rubber and more weight, causes more stress on driveline)

They might be able to blame it, but they can not prove it. So according to federal law they have to uphold the warranty. Also isn't the intake s-tune, so it is warrantied by nissan anyways?

intake = r-tune

the only s-tune HP part is the catback exhaust (yay... 4hp...)

any power mod on the z really requires engine management anyways.

To install the NISMO CAI you pull th old system, reroute some wires, pull off the front driver wheel & wheel skirt, install the new intake, and reinstall the wheel skirt & wheel.

In hindsight I would have gone with the JWT popcharger on my car. The hassle of pulling the wheel & wheel skirt to access the filter for cleaning is a pain. The power gain of a NISMO CAI over a JWT is negligible IMHO.

Did not know it was r-tune. Unless your dealer is a real *** I would not see why it would matter. I talked to my service manager at my dealer and he said he would not care or void my warranty if I installed crawford headers and cats. I guess you should just really ask you dealer before you go and do any mods.
