I want to replace the stock cats but i do not want it to smell, i assume that test pipes smell and high flow cats dont right? are there any test pipes that you guys have that do not emit the smell of fuel?

its not the test pipe that emits the smell... its NOx and sulfurs that you smell, that a cat would otherwise break down. Without a cat, it will smell, and even with a HFC, there will be some smell. Test pipes are illegal....you'll have to swap back stock if you want to get an emission test done. thats about it. test pipes make more power usually, are louder and raspy.

TP's if your going for performance, HFCs if you just want a boost in power and want to pass emissions without re-switching to stock.

I would recommend Testpipe over HFC. You'll get the same performance gain (HP) but it is cheaper to use testpipe and you will have a deeper sound.

DOn't worry about emission for now since you have 5 years before you have to smogcheck your car again.

For testpipe, i would recommend:

1. Strup
2. Topspeed.

In my case, i don't have that problem. You will see a MIX review of "rasping" issue. Even with HFC, you still have rasp. Price range for HFC in the $300-$400 while testpipe in the $100-$200. Half price. Same gain. Deeper sound.

the gas fume smell will goes away. Even with HFC, you still smell it unless you buy an "USED" unit then you don't have to deal with it.

Is there a way around getting the SES light when you run test pipes? I'm interested in running test pipes, but I don't want to stare at a SES light all the time.

I just hollowed out a psare set of OE cats and bought the non-foulers for $15 at Kragens autoparts...I should install them within the next few weeks (as soon as work lets up). From what I hear, the non-fouler trick works well.
