if you plan to stay na then i would. it really depends on how much power you want. fi is good but just dont push it too hard with stock block. na is way more reliable. if you get a utec you'll prob see around 10-20 horse power.

Welcome to the forum.

You are getting way ahead of yourself here. Mods first. Then concern yourself about a ECU tune.

I have installed NISMO cat back and Crawford HFCs already and have Strup headers and MD MREV+ waiting to be fitted next week. Will I be running my engine (rev-up on 35th) safely after all of these mods? Pinging or detonation are expected? Is a reset all I need or are we looking at UTEC here?

if you run test pipes you especially need a good tune to run properly.

From what I've read, as long as you don't change out the stock cats a tune probably isn't required. Once you install test pipes you run the risk of running very lean. I'm not sure if hi-flow cats cause the same problem.

My air fuel ratio improved when I installed headers. I haven't dynoed again since I installed Borla exhaust and 5/16th spacer. I'm hoping I'm not lean. I don't think I am because I still have a lot of black soot on the Borla tips.

What is the difference between running lean or rich? I guess you can adjust the A/F ratio with a ecu tune?

^^running rich is when your getting to much fuel..lean is not enough.

I just have the feeling that breathing and exhaust mods WILL vary the input and parameters the ECU has to deal with and adjust to. The fact that Crawford HFCs don't throw a CEL goes to show things are still in the "norm" for the ECU...but running rich or lean isn't good news...
