be sure all your hoses are hooked up correctly and that there are no leaks from your MAF adapter.. check to see if the oring seal is there.

Most of the intake mods don't do anything according to an interview with a nissan engineer that was posted a while ago. Your ECU is going into safe mode because it detects an error in the flow. My understanding is that the Z ECU needs to be remapped inorder to get any gains out of the intakes. I have not seen any dyno results that show any mathematically significant increase in HP at the rear wheels. Many of the DYNO results I have seen show a decrease with an intake put on because the ECU goes into safe mode.

I noticed a slightly lower idle, but nothing drastically noticable.

Hey bro, sorry I didn't get to finish our IM convo. I'm at work and I had to step away from my desk.

Anyway, I do believe that your problem lies in the PCV hose either popping off or not being completely on. I had to manipulate the hose quite a bit to get a satisfactory fit. If you want to be sure it's on and sealed, run a bead of silicone around it.

As far as the NOS, hit me up on IM and I'll tell you about it.

That's not true.

ECUs learn what you have on the car. it does not need to be recoded.

as far as "safe" modes go on Nissan ECUs. if anything bad happens. it wont let you rev over 3k and you will know if its in safe mode.

bad idle is a sign of air being vented somewhere its not supposed to.

check your throttle body hose connection. make sure its on tight.

as far as the seal goes, sorry. i might be mistaken. but normally, there is an oring on MAF sensors... sorry to trip you if the Z does not. maximas do.

Default Idle Re-learning process also

If you find no vacuum leaks in your system as suggested above then you might need to run the "idle air volume learning" from the service manual.

The service manual has a explanation of how to do this. If you don't have the service manual I can email you the section required for this procedure. I can also provide a backup copy of the entire manual for a handling fee :-)

Email me privately at jelledge@micron.com if you need info on this procedure.

Jason
