that's what i was just thinking... WTF? in order to pass inspection we're going to have to (once a year) remove our exhuast and replace the stock (or whatever you have now) exhaust with the cats, and go get it inspected... that idea kinda sucks... but at the same time seems worth it for just the sound... for me HP is second... (i don't race too often)

...doesn't make any sense to me. Plus you have the exhaust smell and the rasp/drone TPs are notorious for. Go with HFC's. They will provide the sound, performance, save weight, eliminate stink AND pass inspection.

I installed the Ultimate Racing HFC's on an OEM exhaust as a starting point on my exhaust mod's and the sound difference is measurable. 8db at 3,000 RPM in neutral vs. OEM. Under load at higher R's is even greater. Has a real muscular sound. Add a SVRT system or whatever you like and be satisfied and DONE. No need to create more work and more pollution with a TP setup. You like dirty air?
Adding a free flowing exhaust after the most restrictive part of the system (OEM cat's) doesn't allow you to realize the full potential that your new system offers.

If the budget allows (or you have a generous GF) go with HFC's and a new exhaust. You will maximize performance and sound AND pass smog test.

This group buy is on a 2.5 inch system that does not have, and cannot have, HFCs, stock cats, test pipes or resonated test pipes as it is one piece in that area of the exhaust. So the above post is mute.

The point is not mute, but moot....I think this system will be anything but mute!

Thanks for the clarification......wouldn't even consider such a system for a street car. Track car is another story.

that's what i was saying... this system replaces everything from the headers back... so HFCs, TPs or anything else of that nature is ineffective due to the exhaust design... changing it once a year wouldn't really be a problem because i have the large ramps that raise my car nearly two feet off the ground... and changing an exhaust is just a few simple bolts...

just the idea of doing it... and if anything will eventually lose it's strength over time with constant handling... y'know?

When is the deadline for having the money for the GB?

I was contemplating getting the 3" but I don't think I will be over 500HP anytime soon so, maybe that's not such a good Idea?

I'm with you. Not sure the gain, if there is actually one, vs. some of the other options is worth it. I wouldn't want to remove the OEM, install the SVRTech then remove the SVRTech then install the OEM, get emission test then remove the OEM and reinstall SVRTech. I worked up a sweat just typing all those words!

hfc can easily be cut in the front pipes. it would be very easy for an exhaust shop to do it. not all states have a mandatory inspection, and most outer lying areas don't even require deq, but definately understand quite a few of you are not in those situations and have to do it every year.
treat the swap like a spring cleaning, lol, only comes once a year.
so many people start off with the test pipes as one of their first mods, that we wanted to include it in the exhaust and clean up the bends in that area too.

Hmm... I thought they came with 3.5" tips where the 4" tips was an option. Anyway, I'm just waiting for clips of the larger resonators. I'm pretty set on this system
