davidv hit the nail on the head

"Deep" "throaty" and, especially "sounds good" are VERY personal things in the car world....and even more so in the Z community. What sounds "great: to some people, sounds like utter garbage to another.

Set a budget and decide what style you want, and go from there

the only true way to get the sound you want would be to drive a car with the exhaust of your choice....sound clips are ok but you really don't know until you try it. most nissan dealers have a z with the nismo exhaust that you can test drive...and imo its got a nice throaty sound but not too loud.

I'm stuck on Fujitsubo and Nismo but the make or break deal for me was that Nismo comes with Y pipes and Fujitsubo doesn't

Very quiet exhaust. Comapred to Nismo/Fuji. You need HFC's or TP's to make the HKS sound nice but the Nismo/Fuji sound even better with HFC/TP. Also they call it the Hi power Ti when exhaust has only Ti tips . For true Ti, its gotta be Amuse R1 and Fuji Ti... oh and JIC Single.

the HKS is not quiet at all, and sounds wonderful even with stock cats - again this is what I meant when I said the exhaust choices are very personal, and the sound levels are extremely subjective.

And no, HKS does not call it the Hi Power Ti - the members here do for some reason. HKS simple calls it the Hi Power.

Why hasn't anyone mention the APS 2.5 Exhaust? IMO, it sounds great and throaty. Plus, it's a pretty well balance exhaust for NA or FI. I have the borla and I love it, especially for the price, but it doesnt fit in with my plans of going TT. So, I'm switching. "Plan for the future" is my advice.

Borla + TPs + intake is a beast. I'm guessing those who say borla is quiet haven't heard it paired up with some TPs. At idle it isn't loud, and doesnt drone, but as soon as you give it any gas it literally growls. I couldn't be happier with the tone. Highly recommended given your going to get TPs/HFCs.

The HKS TD Hi Power Ti was installed on my car this afternoon, I am very satisfied. The sound is wonderful at WOT, it sounds very exotic without being too loud. At lower RPMs it is very tolerable, almost like stock. I have an MT 2006 model with only a drop in K&N filter. I was afraid of regreting this buy, but I was wrong. I did my homework on this forum, time well spent.

HKS highly recommended.
