Default Question for RS R exhaust owners

How do you remove the silencers? I just installed the exhaust and I removed the little 10mm bolt and nut from each exhaust tip and tried pulling on the center piece but it didnt come out. Do I just have to pull harder? Does that piece come out? It didnt come with any directions.

Thanks
RICH

i have an RS-R exhaust. first off, yes you just have to pull it after removing the bolt. Its really tight at first. My friend who was sponsored by RS-R and has had previous experience with the exhaust helped me put mine on and told me that other people had to leave it on for a while and only then were able to take it off. i was able to just pull it off, i guess its different for every one. I twisted and pulled at the same time, if that helps. and YES it is loud. i love it.

before i got my rs-r i heard a clip somewhere on the net. have no idea where it is now but trust me, the sound clips dont do it justice at all. its not overbearingly loud, but its pretty loud. i like the db level. i set off alarms just starting my car up.

Hopefully that helps to explain it.
dude, if you think its loud WITH the silencers idk if you'd want to take em out. cuz its a pretty huge difference.

Haha. I have the RS-R exhaust too and it is a pretty loud exhaust. But the sound is so sweet! I absolutely love the way it roars and is probably the best sounding exhaust for the 350Z. If you think the exhaust with the silencers is loud, get ready for a wake-up call when you pull the silencers out! If you're still trying to take them out, you need to warm up the exhaust a bit. Turn on the car for around 5mins and then start yanking away. Eventually, they'll come off after a bit of wiggling.
I actually might be getting rid of my RS-R soon, but not because of the sound. It's because of my TT application not getting enough flow. I've told them to make a TT application for me but their plans don't include a turbo exhaust for the 350Z.

check the sticky thread for a sound clip "exhaust sound clips needed" RS*R is on PG 4 it's Post # 76 they are very good clips

LINK There is a clip in here for almost every exhaust.

I have had the exhaust for a while... No Silencers it sounds amazing, but it is very loud. The volume doesn't bother me though.

Question for those who have taken the silencers out:

Did it scratch the inside of your exhaust? Mine has some scratches on the inside where the metal parts meet and as you yank, it scratches.

Any idea of how to get rid of scratch?

try to pull it out straight. It seems like the silencer can get stuck if one part sticks out more than the opposite side. If one side starts coming out first, then pull on the otherside to even it out...this usually works for me. Hopefully you don't scrape the inside of your exhaust.

Start car, leave idle for a min. or two. Use pliers and if you don't want to scratch or leave any marks on the silencers use a towel and wiggle and pull out. Mine came out easily.

The RS*R exhaust is way too loud but I like the way it sounds w/o the silencers.

I'm not sure if your afraid to yank the silencers out ... but that's so odd that those silencers won't come off.
Try using 2 pliers, one on top and other on bottom then try to wiggle to remove.

If no one post the pics of the silencers I'll take pics of it later and post 'em up.

Okay I got them out. Its really loud. I will drive around with them out for a day but I will most likely put them back in and leave them in. I think I need to put earplugs in while driving.

Will leaving the silencers in restrict or cause alot of back pressure?

I really think keeping them out is way to LOUD.

But I like it. Its just gonna cause to much attention

What do you think? They look restrictive to me... measure the openings with the silencers in.
