Default Need to replace OEM exhaust... What is the quietest/classiest looking aftrmkt system?

Hello,

Obviously, I am a bit of a newbie here. I searched around a bit but most of what I found was either really old or not entirely related.

I am a medical sales rep and my Z is my daily driver. I can't have a rice rocket due to obvious reasons. I would love to get a more aggressive sounding exhaust but need it to A) be as quiet or almost as quiet as OEM and B) look classy (no coffee cans hanging out of the back).

I am in the Philadelphia area so if someone has something they think I should hear I would appreciate it.

Why does my stock exhuast need to be replaced? I ran over a cement block that was sitting in the middle of a hospital parking lot for some reason. Only damage was crushed pipe between cat and muffler.

Thanks in advance,

Jonathan

Research the Tanabe Touring Medalion w/ y-pipe. Also might want to try the Nismo cat-back.

Yeah the Tanabe Touring looks like a great option. Anyone know how much louder it actually is than stock?

Who generally has the best prices on these? Ebay?

Thanks for the reply.

I'd say the Nismo or Borla.

It shouldn't be louder than 93db. There are clips within that link of it.

BTW: The clips are of it installed on a g35 coupe.

The Borla is a true-dual system and will be louder that the Nismo or the Tanabe Touring. Also it has a bad rep for falling apart.

So the Nismo and Tanabe Touring are pretty much the same thing loudness/performance wise?

The Tanabe Touring looks a little better (IMO) and is actually cheaper.

Yes. But remember that the Nismo is a full cat-back. It includes the Y-pipe. The Tanabe is not. You will need to order the Tanabe or other make Y-pipe to get a full cat-back system. I suggest the Tanabe y-pipe though.

My Power Enterprise Sonic EX is EASILY leaps and bounds quieter than the nismo exhaust was.

Also, the PE isn't a cat-back. Getting the ypipe isn't entirely necessary. Also, the aftermarket ypipe will make it a tad louder.

That must make it quieter than the OEM exhaust. I don't think the Nismo is much louder than the OEM one.

Nismo has a conservative tone and look for sure. It's perfect for any hospital or doctor's office. Here's a pic of it on my G...

From the what I have heard in person the Borla is quieter than the Nismo. Also quieter than the Nismo is the Stillen TD. Also, in some cases (HF cats on and auto roadster is one case), the Nismo has a drone at freeway speed.

What I do like about the Nismo though is that it is pretty close to stock quiet when you are just driving around, start up and free revving (don't expect to impress anyone with sound sitting still, it is mild and has NO parking lot cred). BUT, when you get on it, say getting on the freeway at WOT, it will speak up and be heard. So it gives you the best of both worlds.

Can't go wrong with the Nismo. Legal in all 50 states and has a warranty when you get it at the dealer.

Its November and 350Z meets are few and far between. Join ECZA. Spring 2007 will be the first meet. You can see and listen to other 350Zs.

Can't go more OEM than Nismo. Looks and sound. Sounds like stock but alittle louder with the performance.
