It will bolt up, but the single pipe will be a different diameter than the muffler pipe.

guys... just found this thread, and wanted to bring it back up for a sec for some more questions...

First i really wanted to get the nismo exhaust... but then i realized that paying 1000 dollars for JUST great sound and 6 more HP is kind of rediculous. So now im flirting with the idea of just getting the nismo y-pipe since it should be much better than the stock y.

Questions:
1. Will it sound good?
2. Will it fit (according to above posts it will)?
3. Should i just get the full catback nismo exhaust?

thanks in advance...

You really should start another thread - or two. We need more unique questions, like 'will it sound good', and 'should I get the full catback'. I've been wondering that myself, but never saw it asked before!

Nismo is ok. I had one in my car. There are others better like jic and tanabe to name a few. And yes, they fit well with the stock midpipe

Good luck,

George from Pasadena,

well i didnt really want to start a new thread if there is already a similar one in progress...

So i guess we decided that it will fit... now will it sound good? will it sound similar to the full nismo exhaust (i love the sound of the nismo)? should i just get full nismo exhaust?

No it will not sound like the full exhaust.

The Y pipe will bolt up but you will not get alot if any gains from it. Reason is the air flow will have to go from a 3 inch y down to a 2.5 stock mid pipe that will choke off any performance you would be getting. the smoother flow in the y might give you 2-4 hp.

You should look at the full exhaust. If you have to have a new Y pipe there are better priced options out there.

Too funny! I was jerking your chain. There are already 50,000 threads just like this one. How it sounds and what you should do next are YOUR decisions and no matter what anyone else says, YOU have to decide for yourself. Either go and listen to a few combinations in person, or do what everyone else does, and buy something and keep buying something else until you find what you like!

will it sound better than stock? Have you heard nismo y + stock in person? I just want to make the stock sound louder and dont want to pay 1000 bucks just for sound, and the gain of the full exhaust is only 6hp so im really just paying for the sound.

The Nismo Y-pipe flanges where the single pipe meets up with the stock pipe will be the same as stock , so it will bolt up. However, the pipeing diameter will be different. You want something like the HKS Y-pipe if you're going to keep the stock muffler.

Yes I have heard it with the stock exhaust and imo it did not sound that different. I have the full nismo and I have pulled sections and put oem one in so the full exhaust is the only way you will get that sound. If you want a louder stock exhaust you should get HFC or Res. test pipes. The sound will be much better and the gains will be alot higher.
