is there a sequence of tightening the bolts? on the motordyne stuff there is a certain sequence so that you get an equal seal. just to make sure one side isn't tighter and level with the other side i guess

"super tight" is not a torque spec. You probably over-tightened them and are causing the leak you are trying to fix. Follow the instructions...

The bolts should be torque properly. The pattern resembles a star (similar to tightening lug nuts).

yea i think those 10 mm bolts have to be torqued to 6-8 ft/lbs. if you overtighten you may have to get a new cork gasket

Did you purchase this brand new? If not then.. You may not have the gasket.. And the rule of thumb for tightening is to tighten with one hand as tight as you can....... Of course using the criss cross method for even seal..
