Default APS 2.5" with Balance Pipe - Whose done it?

Hi Guys,

Who is running the APS 2.5" exhaust with a custom balance pipe?

Would like to ask some questions.
Thanks
Murray

I wish I would've done that. I loved the APS exhaust, but it was too raspy with straight pipes. X pipes would've fixed that in a jiffy.

I haven't heard it yet - just got pics this morning and picking up the car this afternoon or early morning, but I was told it actually REALLY changed the sound for the better even at just start up and idle. He said it's a little more growly and aggressive - which was exactly what I was after. The APS sounded ok most of the time, but sometimes sounded really pretty dull - like a 4 cylinder engine with big exhaust instead of a mean V6

So far most of the exhaust sounds that I like the most have always had an X-pipe at that location, plus there's some nice benefits to using X-pipes anyway with power gains

Thanks for the reply! Nice work, my car is booked in next week to do a H-pipe. Should be interesting to see what happens to the sound and performance. I will post some picks on mine when its done.

Thanks
Murray

Shame to chop up such a nice exhaust, but it does sound dull.

i'm happy with the sound
it really does sound like a mean V6 again, not a loud boomy 4 cylinder

I'd say it sounds very similar to the Fast Intentions exhaust. Putting the X pipe in pretty much makes it the same exact design for the most part other than a single large muffler with dual ins/outs vs two independent mufflers.

The APS is neat though in that you can still maintain the stock aerodynamics with the rear aero plate. It also has flex joints so it's a little more flexible with fitting different aftermarket setups

If i would've done that, I would've saved a few hundred bucks in getting a custom exhaust. Damn myself. The APS exhaust is great cuz of the fitment, shiney ness, and ofcourse the stock aerodynamics.

Both the APS 2.5" and the 3" use no x or h in the piping. Any of you exhaust guys have any incite or theory on this?

Got my H-pipe installed. It now sounds like a 6 cylinder instead of two 3 cylinders so im happy with that. There is still some rasp there on my setup however which is not the best. There is a bit more power down low vs when I last had this exhaust on my setup without the H pipe so thats good. Not happy with the rasp left though so will have to try to get the turbos installed quicker, they should stop the rasp

Regarding no X or H on the APS TD, I would say the APS exhaust is designed to flow the most possible with the least amount of back pressure. X or even H pipe would take away from this goal. That and its not really a True Dual if it crossed over in the middle.

The AAM 2.5" and 3" also have no x or h in the piping. Are these built for TT or are they just being manufactured/produced as easily as possible?
