Default Exhaust Installation

hey wuts up guys!

I kno this is a dumb thing to ask...but ive never installed an exhaust myself...just always helped a few friends out and whatnot....

Are there any tips you guys could give me with installing this?

Where to you guys put your jack stands and what not?

or ever if there is a simply diy with pics that would be cool too.

thanks for the help.

the most important thing is put generous amount of nut lube ( ) on the bolt/nuts for a few hours. The stock ones are on there incredibly tight. 14mm socket is all you need.

Yeah I lubed my nuts up pretty slick and the damn ones that joined the Y pipe to the cats refused to come off. At the end I had to torch them to get them loose. To OP, I would also suggest you get a case of beer and get a buddy to help you.

wow... haha, I was a total beginner when I tried my first exhaust install... took my buddies and me 6 hours... not including another 6 hours the previous day of being unable to pry the damn bolts from y-pipe to cats off...

my suggestion would be first to make sure you have good tools. My friends and I broke 3 sockets trying to get those first bolts off. A cheater bar or actual breaker bar is useful. 14mm socket is all that's needed to get the exhaust bolts off, but for the brace under the mid-pipe, you need 10mm, 12mm, and 14mm. Like, everyone else said... lube. And get some adjustable jaw pliers to squeeze the hangers out of the rubber grommets. Good luck.

i installed mine by myself, in about 3.5 - 4 hours, with jack stands and floor jack, different length socket wrenches, i had to jack the car up and down a few times to move the stands to different corners on top of running back and forth to my apartment which is a good 50 yards away, i used to my legs to remove the y pipe-cat nuts... just stepped on the socket wrench from different positions +11 on the lube

Lift the entire car on 4 stands. Use a breaker bar, or cheater pipe. For the hangers i just yank on them untill it comes out. I have had my exhaust on and off 3 times or so now, its really not that hard. If you have a good set of sockets and end wrenches its pretty easy. Get a friend to help so one of you can put an end wrench on the other side of the bolt for a backup. Use PB Blaster over wd40 its better.

Quoted for truth! Don't even TRY to pull the exhaust hangers out without lubing them up. Once you spray them (do so pretty liberally, get it all up in there), they'll slip right out.

Use Wet & Black tire cleaner on the rubber exhaust hangers. Way better than WD-40 and was made for rubber. I had the factory muffler off in less than 5 min. and the new on quicker than that, without help. It will also dry in just a few minutes. No muss, no fuss, no cuss.

Use lock washers on your exhaust bolts, and just crank them down.
