Default just installed injen ses, is the smell normal?

whats up guys? i just got an injen ses exhaust from JEFF at westco nissan (good price by the way) but anyway i installed it saturday and was wondering if i did it correctly. theres a smell coming out from the cat's area smelling a bit like something you would smell from a modded test pipe on a honda. the only difference is that the smell is less suffocating than that of a honda. i asked scott from westco nissan and he said his tech said its going to last for about a week or two. normal right? i dont daily drive my car, but im trying to for the two weeks to get rid of the smell.

oh and by the way, when im on first gear, occasionally it would make a rattle as if the exhaust is loose, but i know i tightened everything and the gaskets are all on correct. any injen owners out there?

The smell is normal, its new pipe...just as if you were to go to the muffler shop and have them put on pipe and a muffler. Mine smelled for a little less than a week. It may even smoke, depends on how clean the insides of the pipes are.

I had a rattle too, there was a bolt that was loose on the passengers side, rear above that side canister, I think it holds the hanger back there or something, it's been about 3 years so I don't remember exactly. Check, all the bolts on and off the exhaust and make sure they are tight, also if the exhaust is rattling against something, you might see some blemish on the exhaust somewhere...

Hope that helps.

well, gains wise, i never speed (had a COUPLE bad experiences) but sounds great, despite the rare rattling noise. on top of that, my behind looks dope

For the rattle, either you have a bolt loose, or the piping is hitting the 'W' brace, the pumpkin, or the sway bar. Check each point. Good luck, get a dyno!

Not unusual. The exhaust is coated inside and out with various solvents used in manufacturing. They will burn off after a couple of hundred miles.
