in a post awhile back, I said that I'd produce some more vids with the silencer on and with drive bys (rather then in car video)...well, after snow days, a few autoX's, and a trip to China, I finnaly got a chance to do some quick videos:
here's a pic of the silencer before I modified it:

this one if w/ the silencer on - I actually welded on a restrictor plate to the silencer w/ a 1/2" (really small) hole to further reduce the exhaust sound...I'm running headers, TP, Y-pip, so it's fairly loud. I love how it sound - but my neighbors would probably kill me b/c I usualy leave for work around 5:30am.

2nd vid, is with the silencer removed. the 2nd pass, you can hear a short back-fire...I had forgotten to turn off the TCS, and the engine cut power. The roads still had snow/ice on the sides, so traction was terrible. On the last pass, once I got the rear end straight, you can hear the tire's slip again at high RPM...the rev's shoot up quickly! (ppl often ask how long it take to remove the silencer...it takes about 10 seconds )

hope this helps. (some ppl had also asked for more pics of the rear of the car...so I tried to show some tail
)
update: I still love the exhaust. I love going out for late night drives, taking off the silencer, and just ripping through curvy roads!

without the silencer, it's loud at certain RPM's...I can cruise on the highway around 3K rpms, and not be bothered by it. But below 3k, it's fairly loud, so I needed a solution not to bother ppl.
w/ the silencer, it's perfect; I've driven next to cops without them looking twice! The biggest tell-tail, is that my wife doesn't complain that it's loud

Do you have anymore pics of the car from the back? From what I can tell, this exhaust seems to perform very well so, I am thinking about getting it. I am just wondering what it is going to look like. I do not want something that is going to visually draw any unwanted attention my way.

I don't have any other pics of it from the rear, but I lifted the middle lower section of the stock bumper, so that you can't tell that there should be to tail pipe exits. it looks like this one:

it takes about 10 mintues to make the change...I think it looks a lot better than stock. watch the 2nd vid (w/out silencer) - I tried backing up so that the video would have a rear shot of the difference.

*if you still need more pics, let me know and I'll try to snap a few quick ones this week.

I love it mang! I have currently have UTR test pipes and HKS Hi Power Dual exhaust and Im thinking about switching to this AAM titanium 3" that you got here. What kind of Y pipe do you have.
Does anyone know which set-up would make more power for an N/A set-up ??
This is a 3" single compared to my 2.25 dual I believe. I would only ditch my HKS for this exhaust if its better for my N/A set up, cuz i really like my HKS. Im on the road ro getting 300whp so I need all the hp help I can get.
I could keep my test pipes if I do plan on going with this exhuast right? All I would have to do is get the Y pipe ?

I have AAM's Y-pipe. You are correct in thinking that if you switch, you could keep your TP's ,and just get a Y-pipe.
As to the difference in power between the single 3" AAM, and your current HKS dual 2.25"...the cross sectional flow for each is:
AAM 3" = pi*(1.5)^2 = 7.08
HKS =2* pi*(2.25/2)^2 = 7.95
so the HKS has a bit more flow area...but since the HKS is dual, the wetted surface area is greater than AAM's. It'll come down to their desings...I don't know the HKS design, but knowning AAM's, there really isn't anyway to get a more free flowing design than AAM's.
IMO - AAM's 3" would flow better than the HKS dual 2.25", and thus would make more power for you. (this is under the assumption that the HKS will have some amount of sound deadening design.

Peter I appreciate the response ... keep up the good work with the N/A Z. I will have to research the benifits of both these set-ups furthermore before I can pull the trigger on making the switch.

I'd love to have someone dyno them back to back for some real evidence!
:cough:AAM ... I have an HKS and would be willing to dyno each one to compare:cough:

Nice Video....Im running a similar setup just without any resonators or anything just straight VQ to an HKS Ti muffler. Its loud as hell!!! need to get some resonators thrown in tho. Its too obnoxious.
