Default problem and product question

ok, so my plastic intake tube is getting all types of scuffed up from i guess the hood rubbing on it or something. so first off, why is this happening and shouldn't Nissan know about this problem and attempt to do something to fix it? I will try to get pictures up tomorrow to show the damage.

Now, since it is scuffed up, I was thinking about replacing it (at least for shows if I can't find the problem) with a carbon fiber intake tube from either 350evo.net http://www.evo-r.net/product/CF_Intake/index.htm or the one from the Z store http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/PFFC23/11-2961

I want to know if anyone has one of these, and if so...how's the quality and fit? Does it get rubbed against by the hood?

I've got one, pretty easy install, you don't even have to remove the strut bar. Really nice fit/finish.

wow, i don't see how that was caused by the hood, if something is scratching your pipe....think clean... your new pipe will be scratched as well, i wouldn't replace the pipe till you find the culprit, i've the slightest idea of what could be doing that

the strange thing is, the underside of the hood doesn't show any signs of damage, so i don't know

well, i took a black marker and went over where the scratches were on the intake tube and then shut the hood. opened the hood and none of the ink from the marker was on the hood...since there are scratches on the side of the intake tube as well, i can only figure that engines heat has somehow eaten away at the finish on the tube. so i don't think anything will happen when i install the carbon fiber tube, which i ordered from thezsource a few days ago. i'll post pics when it comes in.

i have the same problem...it looks like someone slid something over the tube. i actually was thinking about that same cf tube (trying to black out the car/engine bay) let me know what you think about it once you put it on.
