Default CAI give u BETTER MPG???

One of my friend told me that CAI give you better mpg for your car...(not much but slightly better) I don't fully doubt him because he knows and actually works with cars.. but i am just not sure because i am not that professional in this field.. what do you guys think about this??

if it does then what CAI would be good for my 05?

I makes the car sound better at high rpms so mine went down about 5mpg... but thats my fault. Otherwise ive always heard that they increased gas milage.

^+1 (HFC = better sound = higher rpm) = less gas mileage

The weight of my right foot changes the gas mileage more than any mod so far. That includes an older G sedan, G coupe, current Z, etc..

i think it saves gas but when you hear the sound your foot just stays down so you probably dont get any with the new lead foot

Correcta. The altered sound of the mod tends to keep your right foot smashing the gas pedal, therefore, less mpg.

yep yep, but never the less still sounds bad ***. throw on an exhaust and there goes all your gas. Dont even get started on a tt. On my 93 rx7 i think i was getting around 12 to 14 mpg lol

it will help probably by .3 mpg I have read on some tests of other vehicles
That IS IF you can keep your foot out of it
Your driving style would be the biggest change to MPG, not a CAI

Driving habits are a stronger influence on MPG than mods. If gas mileage is killing you, get off the accelerator or buy a civic / prius

Hmm.. I'm resurrecting this thread to tell you that I got an increase of about 1 mpg (a 5% increase from 20 mpg). I haven't changed my driving style. I still punch it to redline 1, 2, & 3 as I climb onto the freeway after the gym and put around all day when driving on the small streets. Maybe they do work, but still not as good as my right foot loosing weight.

for all you know... you could be getting better MPG as your engine wears in more and more.

i've heard that if you drive like a "granny" with more free flowing mods like an intake and exhaust...that you mpg could improve slightly. But as soon as you give it more gas...it'll suck up more gas.

i agree with the above mentioned post....it's all about your right foot.
