Default Exhaust pros, I got a question

Just bought a new exhaust for the Z and it's just a little to loud for me. However I got a good deal on it and don't want to switch exhausts. Is it possible for me to take the resonator out of the stock midpipe and mount it in my new system to quiet it down or will it just change the tone and ruin the sound? Thanks for all the help.

topspeed N-1. yea, I know it's like the loudest exhaust you can get, but i under estimated how loud it would be.

eh you could put a resonator in it at a exhaust shop but it may mess up the sound theres really no way to know.

I can weld the resonator in myself, I just wish I knew what it would do to the sound.

That's a contradicting situation. The reason people buy that exhaust is for that loud sound. Sounds mean nonetheless!!

I have test pipes though and it's so loud it may make my head explode. but, you kind of made my point. will the resonator decrease the sound or just change the sound of it.

Agree. The result of replacing the resonator is guess at best. You will have better luck replacing the cat-back exhaust with one that is more quiet.

maybe I'll put the cats back on and sell the test pipes. That should quiet it down.

That will decrease the noise level by a decibel or two.

A decibel or two is a very noticeable difference.

stock resonator wont put a dent in that exhaust. Only chance of queting it down is your TP's. You need to put the cats back on it, but honestly your back stepping, when you should be moving foward with the correct parts. If you dont like how loud the exhaust is, then you should sell it for something more pleasant. If you throw sugar on a pile of chit, it's still a pile of chit. Good luck with things, that exhaust should be in with Nascar.

Well, i took it out around town tonight and decided it's not to bad as long as i keep the silencers in. I may modify it later on though.
