Just got the Replica HKS yesterday. 260 free shipping. Couldn't resist.

Doesn't have an H pipe like some others I've seen.

For the X-pipe mod I believe you replace the resonators right after the cats and put it there? I'm getting confusing answers. Some say The magnaflow x pipe bring the VQ sound back and less drone. but does it reduce the actual decibel in sound?
Fitment was alright. I got what I paid for though. Sounds like a fart can.

+Wouldn't removing the resonators for an x pipe make it louder? I'm so confused.
There are different x-pipes. There are the resonated and non resonated. Most use the resonated x-pipe which looks like a traditional muffler but the internals are routed in a x pattern. See below.

The above will go in place of the resonators. Brings a more tuned sound and at some rpm's, it has a nice "gurgle" to it. IMHO, it makes the replica sound 100x better and greatly reduces cabin drone.

Default HKS Replica Exhaust vs Authentic

New to the group and still learning.

I have done all sorts of research and would like to hear the opinion of someone who is experienced.

Plan on getting the HKS DUAL exhaust for my z.
Is it worth getting the real set up or should I just go with the replica?
Any links would be appreciated and Thanks in advance everyone!

Flame on

On a serious note, I have read that if you get resonated test pipes as well as the rep exhaust it can actually sound decent.

I personally hate the sound of the HKS. Especially once you do test pipes. Save your $$ and look into Motordyne if you're wanting a look that's similar to the HKS.

Replica sucks!! You must use the x pipe with it, after that it sounds pretty good for a sub 500.00 system.

It's probably somewhere within 34 of these pages, but I didn't want to go through all 34to find out that the answer isn't there. Which eBay HKS replica or replicas have you guys have good experience with? Name of the seller or a link to the exhaust would be awesome. Thanks!

I'm gonna do a similar setup but I'm gonna cut the resonators out and weld in the magnaflow x pipe in place I want race car loud haha so no resonators

Or i might try x pipe with original resonators and if I dont like it take them out who knows, sounds really good though and I agree with the ugly burnt tips haha

Nice setup OP. My hks rep just got here today and I'm searching for a resonated x-pipe like yours. Where did you get yours and how much if you don't mind me asking.

Default Replica HKS exhaust

Bought the replica HKS cat back exhaust off of ebay for $241. So far I am very satisfied. Install on my HR was a snap. Only issue I had was a small exhaust leak where the new exhaust attached to the cats, but was easily fixed with donut gaskets. Very nice sounding exhaust!!! Loud, no drone, and looks amazing especially with a bumper tuck. Definitely noticeable torque gains, made it quicker through the RPM range, however, when in 2nd and 3rd it will sometimes spin on a rolling punch. I have new tires, so I am pretty impressed especially since it hasnt done that before the exhaust.

Mods:

JWT Popchargers
3.9 FD
Spec Stage 2 clutch
HKS replica exhaust

Yummy. I used to have an HKS, couldn't stand the way the two bolts held on the tip sticking through the sides. I noticed yours only has one bolt on the bottom. I wound up drilling a hole through the top and securing them on with a rivet so you wouldn't see the bolts. Just an option if you get tired of looking at them.

I didn't even think of that. That'd look a lot better cause honestly, those little bolts kind of irritate me. haha

Default Best eBay vendor for Godspeed exhaust

Please don't flame.... But the flange on my muffler rusted off its gonna cost 150$ to fix and my flex pipe on the Y is all shabby so I can't see putting a band aide on the problems. I'm ordering the magnaflow xpipe as well and from the clips this set up sounds pretty great for under 600$

Can someone suggest a good vendor so I can avoid any fitament issues? Also is there really no difference between Godspeed and any other knock offs? I was leaning toward Godspeed bc at least it's some sort of a name brand lol. Also I was reading about people coating the pipes with something to avoid rust? After this summer my Z prob won't be seeing snow and salt next winter bc I'm gonna be going German for an AWD DD but still want to protect it if I can just rattle coat it in something. Cheers and thanks!!!!
