Default installed X-pipe/muffler on Borla. (UPDATE)

I just had the Magnaflow x-pipe/muffler installed today and just like everyone else who has done this I'm so pleased. I wish I could video play this on here but I don't have a camcorder. I definetly felt an increase in torque; It feels like it comes on sooner than before. The sound is perfect. I'll be getting a dyno in the next few weeks, and I'll post the before and after. If you have a borla with test pipes and headers, this is a must do mod.

Gald you liked it. I knew you would love it. It does feel like the torque comes earlier. I'll will be waiting on the dyno sheet.

I wonder if this would help a setup with oem cats? ie.. adding the X pipe to a non-X equipped car yields some gains.

Have you ever tried to dyno it with your injen converted to a short ram? I heard that plenum spacers sometimes dont work well with CAI. I have mods similar to yours minus headers and flywheel and my car felt more responsive with my AEM CAI converted to short ram. It feels like it has more low end torque.

I've been thinking about doing that, but I don't have a heat shield for the filter. Did you happen to have idle issues with the CAI before changing it to a short ram?

No, my idle was fine, maybe your lighter flywheel is causing that. I have a unichip as well, did yours help on the dyno? I know it's a crude way to tell but i use my pioneer navigations g-force meter to test new mods i get. Before i got the unichip i could pull a max of .42/.43 g's from a 15 mph punch in second gear, it would max at about 6000 rpm and then taper off to about .39/.40 g's at redline. After i installed the chip i could pull a steady .44/.45 g's all the way to red line, the power doesn't drop off as much, almost none at all.

I never did a pre-unichip dyno, so I don't really know. Did you have your unichip custom tuned, or did you use a preprogramed map from unichip?

I'll have an update tomorrow on the Dyno with the X-pipe/muffler. I also converted my CAI to a short ram, and my idle problem improved a little. I also like the sound with the short ram better. I'll post a before and after. Stay tuned.

I know the muffler made a huge difference with sound on my Injen exhaust. Glad you like it

Definitely find a way to get a sound clip up mate, I'm considering getting a Borla true dual setup with some high flow cats. I've always loved the sound of a Borla.

Here is the update, its a little distorted. These are corrected.

Before the X-pipe/muffler with Injen CAI and the rest of my mods in my sig 261whp, 241tq. Run conditions 85 degrees 53% humidity.

With X-pipe/muffler and Injen short ram 263whp, 239tq. Run conditions 74 degrees 45% humidity.

uncorrected
pre x-pipe with CAI 263whp, 243tq
with x-pipe and short ram 270whp, 246tq

My A/F is leaner with 14 at about 3400rpm and tapers down to around 13.54 at 4400rpm. I don't know if this is due to the short ram or not.

My overall impression is that on paper everything is pretty much the same. However the car feels more responsive in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear and sounds so much better. All pulls where done in 4th gear.

Sorry to bump and old post, but was there any fab work involved in the swap or was it a direct replacement for the Borla H?
