SRD write up of MREV2
Hey guys,
I hope this is not a repost, but I was looking around for info on the MREV2 and run across this article. Great read. Also for you guys with this combo( MREV2 and 5/16 spacer), in the article it said that the top end loss would be alleviated with exhaust, is that true??
btw, I have the Nismo and recently purchased an MREV2 and 5/16 iso spacer.
Here is the link :

Makes me want to get my car dynoed, I have the mrev2 + 5/16 spacer, fast intentions res. tps and borla exhaust. I wonder if the drop on the top end is similar to that posted dyno.
Nontheless, I rarely get to redline so...

Refer to that thread about the mrev2. MRC tried to keep everything constant.
This is a write up from the shop doing all of the work on my car. The car tested is one of the owners' G35. The MREV2 seems to be a great mod for NA VQs. I think the exhaust got rid of the top end problem, to answer your question. They have done the MREV2 on a lot of VQ's at SRD and they have seen good results from all of them.
If you hit them up for a quote, I'm sure they'll take care of you as they did me!

Wow, I love it 3kgt, I have seen this before on Motordyne's site, but I did not know it was your car. I was actually going to ask a question about whether or not the car had exhaust. Im excited about putting them on next week! After these mods, our rev-up motors are not so obsolete after all
Thanks
I don't race or anything, and I actually didn't want to do anything to my car, but this was too good to pass by. It was with the iso thermal parts, and the copper throttle body spacer wasn't put on. I put the z to sleep for the winter afterwards, but any questions about this, i'll answer the best to my ability.

Adding a 5/16" spacer to the MREV2 decreases the TQ slightly and increases the HP. And using a 1/2" spacer adds a little more tilt to the curve but only increases the top end HP by about 1-2 HP more.
Yea i guess thats the case, but the biggest reason for the spacer is to relieve all the high end lost due to the MREV2, which it clearly does according to the dyno, but it needs exhaust as well. This dyno is with a Nismo exhaust. Look at the original post and the link of SRD's write up. They also have a great sound clip
I might just treat myself to one of these MREV2 animals when spring rolls around. I have a JIC y-pipe and fujitsubo exhaust so I am thinking that should eliminate any of the top-end breathing problems. But 3kgtsflip's dyno was done with a Nismo cat-back on, and he was still making less-than-stock numbers at the top end past about 6100 RPM? I read through the thread but I'm still confused...I'm not sure I want to sacrifice my top end power for some more mid-range

I lose about 2whp for around 300-400 rpms then it returns back to baseline from 6600 afterwards. Thats not much of a lose. Underneath the curve, in some areas I make around 110-6whp for about 1000rpms and there is improvement from 3500rpms all the way to 6100rpms, and it just dips for a couple hundred like i said, and goes back to what the baseline peak was. So there isn't really any sacrifice to the topend at all with a nismo exhaust it seems. In the Got Mrev2 thread, there is bigger pictures of the dyno if you want to see more details of it. Its on page 11 i believe.
