intake plenum idea
ok, this is going to sound very extreme for some of you guys, but bare with me... im keeping performance in mind...
We all know how restrictive the intake plenum is with the bend at the back of the manifold sucking air from the front, and how the timing chain would get in the way of the TB being in front of the manifold, so how about this: instead of having the manifold bend right, it bends up towards the hood and connects directly to a filter... this would require a new hood with a small scoop in it (could be made to look nice) but would give us functional ram-air... would be pointless for those going FI, and not very practical, but what does everyone think?

I'd like to see a complete redesign of the intake manafold. Something along the lines of the top secret setup. I cant find a picture, but maybe someone has a link to the gallery with the magazine scans...

They use a single turbo which requires this setup.
I don't think top secret uses a single turbo setup, I just think they used the redesigned manifold because with that setup they are getting only 5-10% less air into the front cylinders (like the crawford Z plenum but doesn't look as ugly). I may be wrong but as of the article in Turbo they are still using twins.

Wow I can't believe they changed their whole setup just like that. Do you have any idea if the intake plenum is going to be available here?

The Top Secret Turbo Kit is a single turbo. It does include the plenum. The problem is the put it on the passenger side which in the USA is the drivers side of the car. THe Top Secret manifold will not work due to the rack and pinion. So if you were to buy the kit you would have to have a new header made and the single big turbo would probably not fit in the USA drivers side of the engine bay.
thanks,
Greg
