Hey guys!

I race my brother today and let me tell you this is the best mod that I install in my Z... My last race with him I have the Borla, Injen and GK and he have Injen and GK... I always won by 2 cars ahead (5th 135 mph)... but tonigth, we race like 5 times (always from a roll) and I always have around 5 cars ahead from him ... YES around 5 cars ahead (5th 135 mph). this is the "bang for the buck" rigth now...

Like he said, we went to the highway so we could run 120mph+...
Only one thing comes to mind... Oh my God...
That fricking car is wayyyy too fast now... let me explain... when his setup was the Borla only, he pulled half a car length at 3rd gear and as soon as he was hitting 4th he had me by a car length, then as he was about to put 5th he was almost two car lengths.

NOW he just destroys me from the start... we raced from 1st, 2nd and 3rd, its just simply unfair
It's like this:
we started at 2nd gear, as soon as he stepped on the gas he started to pull away from me, when he’s half a car length ahead at 2nd gear he goes for 3rd while I'm still at 2nd !!!
By that time he is already almost 2 car lengths ahead and as soon as he is going for 4th, he is like 3 car lengths ahead, 4th gear he will be like 4 almost 5 car lengths and still pulling away from me, actually he let go at 135 and I was at 126 or so when he pulled off.
If we start from 1st gear, its even nastier the beating… he will be ahead of me by a car length at 2nd gear so you figure out the rest…

I have already ordered my set. I can assure you guys, this has to be the most radical mod (not counting FI or Nitrous) I have ever seen in a 350Z...

Javi or webcar, how much louder do these things make the car? I'm excited about this

edit: NM I read Javi's answer to Juztin's post on the previous page. Hope it sounds badass! Good thing there are no emissions standards in Georgia!!!

OT: Javi what exhaust do you plan on buying?

Also, can you guys take a short video of the Web's Borla with cat pipes to hear how much louder it got?

Also, why no vids of the racing?????!!!!

I got my set ordered and just patiently waiting . What is really interesting is the fact that the "back pressure" of the system is being lessened and more power is being gained. I had already removed my 2nd muffler on my car and kept the resonator, after doing that, running w/ Z's I would pull half a car length @ 2nd and then keep pulling continually. It would be interesting to see how this affects my setup as I will be running a lot more open now with the loss of back pressure from the cats. I dont have the borla true dual exhaust, just the normal exhaust w/ out the big a$$ rear muffler . That's great to hear that your car is responding soo radically. Seems like the common notion of the less restricted the exhaust, the more power gained from the engine eheheh

I have a modifed stock exhaust. It looks as follows:

[tips]==>--[resonator]--<[3rd cat/flexs]==[1&2 cat]=[heads]

Sorry for the shitty diagram, I'm too lazy to paintbrush it. I dont have a 2nd muffler which is after the 1st (resonator). Makes it sound like a mean *** formula one car, simply breath-taking & head turning lol . With this mod (cat pipes) I will be loosing the 1&2 cats as it will be just straight-through pipes. I will be interested to see if I make good gains, or loose power. According to the debates of "back-pressure" I should loose power. Yet every engine I've worked on (mostly small blocks & big block chevy's) the more open the exhaust, the more power gained. I still need to get rid of the 3rd cat as well. Hey lsdunique, have you guys fabbed a straight-through y-pipe to replace the cat & flex's on the OEM, or are you willing to? If so, can you email the price or estimate price to do so??? I'm looking @ buying the Y-pipe provided w/ the nismo package as it only has the flex portion & not the cat on it right now, but I'm open to options . Anyhow I'll keep an update once it's been done to see how the car reacts and lean more to one side on whose right in that debate lol . I'm leaning personally to the back-pressure is not an issue side, but we'll see .

I don't know what exhaust I will be buying yet... I think I'll wait for the Greddy and see what it makes (in hp terms) compared to the Borla. But if I get too anxious maybe I'll go for the Borla.
Remember guys (as someone asked) no matter what exhaust I buy, as long as its a catback exhaust, the cat pipes will fit and won't make things difficult because they are shaped exactly like the cats. Is a true bolt on piece, there is no welding or additional work involved other than exchanging the cats for the pipes... although come to think of it, you will need to buy new bolts for the pipes...can't use the stock ones...anyway its as simple as buying 12 SS 14mm 3" long bolts...

There is no video although I would had loved to, BUT it was only the two of us and someone had to do the driving.
I'll try to take a vid of the new setup.

As for the back-pressure issue... I would like to know who started this BS. My brother (Webcar) is now running NO CATS and a Dual Borla setup without their resonators and his car is faster than ever!!!

Ya I agree I too am curious to see if the O/2 sensors detect that the cats are no longer there and throw the CEL. From past experence, it does take awhile before the computer decides to trigger the light for bad cats, keep us updated, this would be a great mod if the CEL dosen't come on.

P.S. Maybe there is a O2 sims in R&D for the Z... who knows!

I bought them. Will review them in about 7 days.

In my LS1's it came on instant or didn't come on at all.

Then again we are not talking about this mentally disturbed Nissan ECU either back then.

Well, the reason why I said this because in my Honda when I had turbo and took the cats, it took about 1,500 miles for the CEL to come on. Although it didn't put the car in limp mode it just had that annoying CEL light on. Which really didn't bother me, so I am just curious if performance will be affected? But again, o2 simulator would be the way to go, actually thats why I am waiting until I find an 02 simulator, you said you have some max?

A ECU shouldn't throw any codes if the O2 sensors are put back into the exhaust stream. Looking at the pics of the pipes it had the slot for the O2 sensors so that would be back in the exhaust stream. As long as the sensors get exhaust it should not throw any codes.

I take it you don't know how the system works? no bashing dude, just trying to educate you. The way the o2 sensor works is it reads the voltage on the primary o2 sensor (closest to the header) and compares it to the second o2 sensor (after the cats). Its basically checking to see if the "cat" is doing its job by eliminating the added fuel (a/f). It has nothing to do if it has the bung for the 02 sensor to be in the exhaust system. That's why the computer throws a check engine because it tells you that your cat is damaged or something is wrong hence "limp mode" Thats why some cars it can take a few thousand miles for it to pick up a wrong voltage reading. When you hook up an A/F meter your just checking the voltage on how rich/lean its running. Its basically how the sensors work, so with 02 simulator its telling the ecu its running at a constant say 42volts....
