ok, does the the type make any difference.....i want the ceramic coated imply cause theyre the cheapest, will this counter any power gains simply because of thecoating?

Performance should be exactly the same, as the coating is very thin. The reason I would spring for the stainless has to do with weight, and the fact that I don't know if they are coating the inside of the pipe as well. If not, it is still going to rust away over time. Stainless holds up so much longer, it doesn't seem right to save 50 bucks and call it a bargain especially if you scratch the coating during installation, or if the coating is of a low quality and peels off.
Now, morally, I have an issue with taking the cats off the car and having no concern for the air that we breathe, but that is another issue. Why not use a high flowing cat? If there is demand for them, we (N-tech Engineering) can work on a solution.

Just for the couple of you that asked, removing the cats is illegal in all 50 states for use on public roads. This is not a local thing. It is a federal EPA thing.

Then again, I flaut the law daily, so who cares. No one (except emissions and muffler people) will be able to see them anyhow.

By the track during busy season they have these Mobile Smog Station Checkpoints. They can be moved anywhere at any time.

On your way to the track you have to pull over and get on their Dyno type lift. Wait till SMOG CHECK III and OBD III!!!!

Anyone wanna guess what the fine is for no cats in Kali?

(And I'm not hating I ran an ORP with simms and no cats living on the edge, but it just wasn't worth it.)

Hint, think thousands for the fine number.

That's sort of like " sir do you mind if we search your car for drugs."

If you say no they have PC to get a warrant and will search anyway, they will say they saw you make furtive movements and were acting nervous and declined a search instant PC

Right now it's voluntary but if you choose to bypass it they will take your plate and you will be marked. The voluntary part ends with Smog Check III or when our Governor decides he needs a bigger back yard, wehichever comes first.

Why do you think I want toi move out of Kali? I have been pretty vocal about that for about 3 months.

Dude... that's gay...

I'm not worried about it personally... I'm just going to drive away and enjoy my modifications. Sorry you guys get screwed in Kali... then again, your emission standards are the highest in the country. I don't think we are nearly that bad up here in Seattle. WE have to get checked every OTHER year. Is CA every year??

It's every other year with suprises, I believe they go by odd and even last vin number digits too and you have to smog any time you change ownership no matter how long it has been since you last smog and it must pass.

The only saving grace is that when you buy a new car you do not have to get your first smog for 5 years.

By then I will be in something else, always keeping in warrrant, new car every 2 to 3 years.

Legal in California no. If they were I would buy them in a second. It's a big fine to not run cats but aside from that you need a CARB number.

California Air Resource Board (rat bastards) to even pass a smog visual inspection on any exhuast product in Taxifornia.

If you have ever ran a car w/o cats you will know by the smell.
It puts off a horid smell and is loud as hel.
The gains are proven though.

The test in Ca consists of a visual, a sniffer in your tail pipe and a ne Dyno thing.

With these cat pipes you will fail all 3. Not hating on the make I want a set and think they will show gains, but I am already fighting a modified exhaust "with cats."

CHP can send you to a referee station and hold your car and fine you 5k while your car is in storage.

To me that is not worth a tenth. I am currently looking for a way around this like mids. Mid lentght headers with high flow cats could pass a visual, not sure about the sniffer but no one makes them. Shorties are not an option for me. An example of mid lenght headers (in between long tube and short or shorties) is MAC Brand.

An example of high flow cats would be Random Tech or Car Sound.

Neither for our application.

Not legal, 3hp gain, louder, but definitely worth the $. Stupid and careless. I wonder if anyone from the EPA reads this? Maybe they should.

having a sports car that goes over 150 mph,

going over 65mph, also stupid and careless?

maybe I should inform the local authorities about......everyone

don't want to offend anyone, but different strokes for different folks, I don't know a single person who doesn't bend the law in some form at some point in their lives, you just choose your battles I guess. Personally I don't have a problem with no CATS, and I never really have, but then again I am the guy selling them...... hmmmm.

It's not just the Dyno gain it's the fat that the exhust flows better out.

This is a track proven mod that works best with FI or N20 FYI.

If I wasn't under scrutiny right now it's a mod I would do.

But under scrutiny I am with a must appear letter while on duty.

The cat pipes are not legal anywhere in the 50 States, guys. I don't know why there are OK In PR, its a U.S. Territory. I would double check that if I lived there. The power gains aren't enough to justify the crap you put in the air and I wouldn't touch them. Bad mod, IMO.

Only being a territory gives them some automnomy. They are not a state.
I COMPLETELY agree with your comments concerning the gains vs. the pollution responsibility.
