my check engine light is on.. help a noob out. what should i do?

 

Here is some help... S E A R C H in the engine and drivetrain section...

 

put a piece of tape over the light. done.

 

or just wait for the light to turn off.

 

Get a 50lb bag of sand it hook it up to your intake (remove your filter). Now start the car and try to use at least 25 of the 50lbs of sand. This will clean the test pipes for you.

Or use the search function.

Make a vid if you take my advice though.

did you run a scan and see what code it is throwing? that CEL light can mean a whole bunch of things. i know there is a big thread on it along with a bunch already about CEL and test pipes in the intake/exhaust forum. i would say search but it is too late to do that now. if you had done that in the first place you would have read how to prevent it

this might be off topic but it might be the GAS...fill up the gas all the way =)
whenever gas tank gets too much air then it happens so fill up the gas all the way and drive for lil bit =)
it happened to me sometimes too so don't worry toooo much.

oh yeah.. i got this tip from a car mechanic

 

i can smell a lot more gas now.. most likely because i got no more cats..but yeah i know i should search it its just that i have a POS computer and it takes forever so i just keep it on this page and hit refresh and hope someone would tell me lol.. but ill fill it up all the way see if that works..if not then i'll take it to a pro

 

CEL is prob on for an O2 Sensor code. Due to the fact that now you have no cats, and the rear O2 sensor's is picking up the same reading as the front o2 sensor's and the code will read as follows p0420 meaning cat's aren't doing their jobs. it' sonly due to the fact that now you have test pipes. wht i've done to my gf's evo is put extensions for the 02's to screw into and that took care of her CEL for that. try that and see what happens. luckily my 03 with Tp's does not kick on a CEL!!! sorry bro...
