funny – same fix as you mentioned from last time...

Point of notice - remember when I asked you about using the OEM G tube and why have the baffled?... Also notice dyno variance?... Hard to utilize as definitive proof for Z tube, but it sure seems to help (I believe) - no?

Also - as a side note - for those that poo-poo dyno's because it does not give real world environment... CAT is now utilizing a MASSIVE blower that requires a shore power plug (looked to me like at least 5" diameter plug) I’m not an electrical of expert, so I don’t know how to properly describe this unit – but I’ve never seen a plug this big other than massive mobile MRI and CT units connecting to shore power... I walked in front of Derek’s car and no lie, the 5' X 5' blower lifted and thrust my left foot forward as I was walking past it... Shawn said it blows 70 mph! Without a doubt, I believe it!... so real world conditions are much more closely met.

New vids will be up monday or tuesday with the camera a little further away.

Wow, definitely a fitting name, huh? (re: Shockwave) I was thinking, "it's not that bad (when I heard the black Z rev)." Then I heard the white Z at WOT and my jaw literally dropped. It's too bad 99.999% of the Zs won't have the power to back up the roar.

I've been waiting so long for MD's exhausts. I heard the Shockwave. Where are the others? I'd love to hear all that MD's has to offer in person. If only I was donated all the different exhaust pieces.. *hint hint*

VQ muffler removal with shockwave end section install it took less than 5mins once the car was jacked up on one side.

same white 350z, but with the VQ rear section instead of the Shockwave. This vid was taken on the same day as the previous WOT vid on the same rd. What a difference between the Shockwave and VQ rear sections.

You have the Fuji Ti right?

I havent heard the Fuji Legalis Ti but I have heard the regular Fuji Legalis system and it sounds great. Its one of the few quiet exhaust systems in production for the Z and G.

VQ Vs Legalis. I will have some systems going on tour for dynos and sound evaluations. I could send you the tour package for your evaluation. Just let me know if you would like to try it.

The Motordyne VQ and Fuji Legalis Ti would make a good benchmark for comparison.

Feb 16 2006 Temp 61F 275hp 252tq
mods

kinetix plenum
3/8 spacer
stillen cab
z-tube
ground wires
UR crank pulley
kinetix HFC
Borla TD
stillen vb
TS reflash (flashed for mods)

Aug 8 2008 Temp 92F 274hp 241tq
mods

5/16 spacer iso thermal
UR crank pulley
k&n drop in filter with stock airbox and tube (the baffeled one)
xyz pipe with resonator
labree 2.5 resonated test pipes
MD VQ muffler
stillen vb
edge racing TC
osiris tune

I pulled almost the same with a 30 degree difference and less mods. If it was cooler it would of pulled more. The torque is off due to my modified tq converter.
Your numbers should be corrected for conditions, alleviating the density altitude influences. The TC shouldn't be sucking out any power either because it should be locked at WOT in 3rd gear.

Woweeee!

Much deeper growl in those vids than what was on your car Derek!!! I guess not having the mid pipe makes all the difference!

Sounds like an angry animal! very cool

I used to have the Fujitsubo Super Ti, but I sold it a while ago. It definitely had a sexy tone to it. The Super Ti sound is higher pitched than the Legalis R, especially at WOT.

If I had to guess, I'd say your VQ exhaust is quieter than the Super Ti. I had resonated test pipes and it wasn't as quiet as the VQ seems. It sounded closer to the stock tone than the VQ though.

Keep on coming with the exhaust variations. They all sound great so far.
