Default Is Injen SES LOUD??

I'm looking into buying Injen SES exhaust. Anyone already have this installed, can you tell me how much louder it is compared to factory? Audio clip does not justify.. Your opinion is appreciated....

It's loud and intrusive too me. It kind of reminds me of glasspacks sound. And if you install the silencers there is a wierd "puffy" sound when idling or under backpressure that is very noticeable and sounds like sheeit. I did not like the SES sound, er, noise at all. The Z deserves something much more classy sounding. The SES is not exotic sounding at all, period. On the other hand I can't get enough of the way my exhaust system sounds, classy and exotic, not too loud at all, imho. But if your young, dumb and full of, er, a, well if your young you might like it, I just can't stand it, that's all. A lame girlfriend might like it, LOL.

Injen SES
If you like having 9 clamps in your exhaust system which is prone to leaks and looks Home Depot quality, then go for the Borla. If you want your Z to look different than stock, sound mean, flange connected (4 pieces compared to 7 for Borla) , and polished stainless steel, go for the Injen SES.

Who cares!! I don't anyway! Do you drive the Z upside down? On the other hand, everyone around the car can hear it, meanwhile not see it. Whatever!! My Borla doesn't leak.

Are you sure your Borla doesn't leak? And do we really know if it's a true dual since it goes into the same muffler? Show me a physical cutout of the muffler to confirm it's a true dual.

So, what's the point of driving a sports car anyway if it isn't loud enough?

Hey zonester,
Don't sweat it man. When it comes to sound quality itself the Injen SES is the way to go, not just imo, but from other car fanatics. Here's the story. A group of us Z owners in the Chicago area have different exhuasts installed(Injen, Borla, B&B, Stillen, etc, etc). We all were at sport car buff gathering(from imports, demestic, classic muscle cars, exotics). Out of all the exhuast tones on our Z's, everyone.. and i mean everyone loved the Injen hands down. Everyone thought that the exhuast(including Borla) sounded too stock!! There must have been 100-150 people there ranging in ages from 18 to early 60's so age really didn't play too much a factor. I'm so glad i went w/ the Injen & these other car enthusiast's seal of approval totally confirmed my decision.
Good luck in you decision

Between the Borla and Injen, there is no way the Borla sounds better. The Borla prob sounds good, but too tame (and a lot of Borla owners have admitted it). At least for me. My last car (99 turbo Eclipse) had a 3" dp, no cat and a 3" Thermal cat-back and it was just plain nasty sounding (NO, not ricey!), and I loved it. I guess I just don't like a quiet exhaust. What's the point of modding when trying to keep the car stk sounding/looking.

bahh....we've been over this too many times.

zonestar - you might want to wait a month or two if you can hold off that long. Injen's coming out with a new version - straight tip, possibly quieter. The current batch of injen prices will probably drop then.

It's good that their are many different exhausts out there already to suit many different tastes. I am not really serious about knocking everyone who has the SES, just having some fun here. If you like the Injen then you should by all means get that one. If you like the Borla or stillen or Nismo or what not then, of course, you should get it. The one I chose suits my taste to a T and it does not sound stock by any means, yet it definately is almost as quiet. At idle it is quiet like stock but give it a tiny bit of fuel and their is a sweet little rumble and at WOT their is a very nice growl, much better than stock and it is louder. It is much tamer than the SES but much much more sophisticated sounding, imho. Being a sports car does not mean loud exhaust, imo. To me loud and/or raspy exhaust means trying to imitate a nice sports car, like the 350, and failing miserably. I just don't think that the 350Z is the right car for the kind of sound that the SES offers it, imho. I just hope the SES does mellow out after it breaks in, like some guys have said, then maybe i would reconsider my opinion after hearing it, who knows.
Don't you guys like to hear the intake too??
