I just installed my INJEN CAI. (Many thanks to the informative installation posts here on the boards.)

My only question is this...

Is the "whistle" sound I hear when I mash the gas normal? Is that the sound of the air "sucking through the CAI?"

Let me explain a little bit more in depth. I can reproduce this "whistle" every time I want to. Simply mash the gas. It only last about 1/2 a second, but it is very distinct. Whether I am simply at a stop and pulling out quickly, or I go to pass and mash the gas, I get a short little "whistle"

When I am just driving around normal and not aggressively, I never hear it at all.

Overall, I LOVE the look of the kit. I think it should really help out a bit with my Borla TD on the opposite end.

i noticed that whistle when i got my ECU reflash. i don't know if was there before or not though . Im pretty sure its the intake. i hear mine every time i shift though.

 

Yeah, that is just the intake. I like it. It kind of sounds like FI...........I just listen and imagine that it's my new Procharger or something

I never really heard the whistle of the intake. What I do hear for a split second when I mash the gas is an electrical "ziiitt". It is the motor on the electronic throttle body. The reason it goes away in a split second is because the throttle body is now at the correct position. Try it out if you have not heard it. Just tap the gas real quick and you will hear the noise right before the engine revs.

 

I hear a whistle in my NISMO CAI as well when i hit the gas hard while i'm at idle. I guess this is normal?

 

yeah..it's the sound of air gettin sucked in. and i liked takin off the bumper. it was fun =]
