backfire?
well anyone notice the exhaust sounds like backfires except w/o flames? i know this is stupid question but it can have to do with having no cats? its not like i dont like it, it more like when i sell my TP will it still be there because i love sound. whats the difference on exotic cars i still hear backfire but they have cats
someone explain please?

i dont think fire would literally come out but you get what i am saying
i guess that nice sound will go away when i put cats back on
why do exotic cars have that as well though, i dont think they remove their cats. is it jsut casue of their expensive exhaust

Exotic cars don't really meet the smog or CAFE standards the same way a large scale production car does.
Taxes are applied to cars that do not meet the CAFE standard.
For Ferrari or Porsche they don't mind the extra taxes. The volume is low and their customers will pay anyways. Exotic cars are also allowed to cheat a little more when it comes to smog.
For Toyota and Nissan it makes a big difference. Their production volumes are vastly higher so the taxes add up to huge $$$. Nissan and Toyota production vehicles aren't given any slack when it comes to emissions testing.
And their customers don't have the same money to throw around for taxes. And most Nissan and Toyota customers don't want the backfire sound either.

the maserati had a pretty nice exhaust system and i noticed that my z also had backfire so it made me wonder cuz they would always brag about their exhaust system and backfire
