Default Just got Injen CAI.....

I'm at college so i usually drive in the rain sometimes and i have no garage. In the instructions it says dont have it on if you are driving on wet roads and in wet climate. So you guys that have the Injen CAI's, do you ever drive in the rain? How serious is this?

I went back to stock due to dealer request for warranty work and the fact that rainy season is coming up.

Default oh damn

I had heard people on here saying just to watch out for going in standing water. Was it a pain for you to remove again?

I know there are a bunch more guys on here with the Injen CAI. I really need some opinions because i dont know whether to get rid of it now or just wait to put it on.

YOu shouldn't have any problems driving in normal rain, just don't "submerge" the filter into water and everything should be fine. But to be safe I would just run the intake "short-ram" style.

I wouldn't run it short-ram style. This caused my Service Engine Soon light to come on and off randomly. If you want to have this set up, then get the JWT instead because it comes w/ a heat shield for the filter.

ttsupra94,
removing the system wasn't so hard. it took me less than an hour to put it back to stock. this included bumper removal as well.

I haven't had any problems with my InJen in regular rain. You should be fine as long as you don't have to worry about lots of rain that tends to flood.

Just don't drive through deep water. Water puddles are not going to hurt. This issue used to be brought up about every day on www.clubsi.com. I wouldn't worry about it.

BTW-Short rams usually make you lose horsepower since they are so close to the engine.

Has anyone with the Injen CAI installed ever had their car just stall? I've heard of this problem, but can't figure out if it was due to installation error or a design flaw with the CAI. However I do understand that Injen released a supposedly updated version of the CAI or something like that. I would like to know because I'm about to install mines tomorrow.

The only time you will have a problem with water is if you submerge the Filter in standing water. This will allow a vacum to suck water into the engine. If you are running a Cold Air just stay out of puddles that you don't know the depth of. I ran a cold air AEM on my Prelude for 4 years in FL and never had a problem. Just use your head and you will be fine.

Did you hook everything up correctly? I've never had a CEL on mine. Maybe reset the ecu?

I've reset the ecu multiple times but i still have the cel. I do remember that during installation, that shiny silver rectangular thing, i think its the mass air meter or whatever, was accidentally banged up a little. Could that be what is causing the cel because I can't think of anything else.
