Thumbs up Random Technology cat pipes review..

Installed this morning along with NISMO sway bars....

Definite power increase, did not reset ECU as I have the Technosquare upgrade... My Stillen exhaust is much louder now with a header rasp sound.. Not sure if I really like the new sound but will reserve judgement until the new cats break-in a little... Overall happy with the gains, glad I didn't do straight cat delete pipes.. the noise would be crap....
NISMO sways are also worth the cash, car feels much tighter now.

Thanks to Jeff at Performance Nissan for hooking me up....

In comparision to the stillen exahust by itself, how do the cats compare? Would you say the cats feel like they make more or less power?
I am considering this mod but I am also fearful of the noise.

thanks for the review..
I would agree with their being a def gain with most any high flow cats or test pipes. Im deciding to go the borla header & highflow cat route since borla produces is a fairly deeper sounding cat back exhaust im thinking their headers in combo with their cat back and a highflow cat should sound relatively tuned and not annoying loud. Should get those install in a week or two.

Raceboy,
There is another thread going on around here for a group buy on either test pipes or high flow cats w/ or without borla headers I decided to go that route. I believe you also have Borla cat back exhaust anyway im not saying its the best route but maybe a good affordable route to go with the borla headers and high flow cats ( to make it pass smog at least) I know easy enough to change...

Default Answers....

Unfortunately my brain was on standby this morning and didn't bring my digital to the Dealership to capture the install... Took 2 hours for cats and bars.. My Dealership does all my work, Service Manager is a bud and a Z fan....
Cats do add power, entire rev range.... Test pipes or hi-flow cats will add power no worries there...

My thoughts on parts... Nismo headers for sure, a friend had Borla installed on his car...didn't fit worth crap... you get what you pay for there...cheap....
Random cats vs Crawford parts... well the random cats are a work of art, fit perfect and a decent price through Performance Nissan... Your choice there.... I'm happy with mine...

Once the appropriate cam choice has been made and installed along with the plenum upgrade my car will be a monster....
7100 rpm redline comes real quick now......

Thumbs up random tech cats

Anyone who is considering this mod should get it. Just installed them this morning at my local muffler shop. Sound starts off deeper and on throttle goes up to a nice pitch. Definitely louder outside the car, not too bad inside, didn't bother me at all. This is with the Stillen cat backs. Overall i think the sound is improved, so if you like your exhaust sound, it's louder now. Maybe slightly raspy on the high end, but it still sounds good to me. It's hard to believe that the smaller RT cat honeycomb can do the job of the nissan catalyzer which is huge. Anyways, definite power/torque improvement on the butt dyno. Was definitely bolt on with no check engine light hassles. Have to give Performance Nissan's, Jason, Jeff, Jenny a thumbs up. They will hook you up with all the necessary bolts and shims for this product. Also if you live in the south bay area of LA, Pacific Supreme Muffler installed them for 60 bucks. Thanks!

islandsnow........I see you have Fujitsubo headers on the way. Something to watch out for is whether the headers you receive are for a right hand drive or a left hand drive car. It seems they have been mistakenly shipping the wrong ones and the right hand drive headers leave no room for the steering column.

Here is a detailed link from Tere over at Zchickz about the issue.......she had her old headers off and was in the middle of the installation when she found out the headers were for a right hand drive car. There are pictures in this thread also, so you can compare the ones you get to be sure they are the right ones.

http://zchickz.com/forum/topic.asp?T...erms=Fujitsubo

I hope yours are the correct ones, the quality of the Fujitsubo is second to none

Smile thanks

Wedge,

thanks for the heads up, i'll compare them with the pics as soon as i get them. So far it seems this company I ordered them from has been getting the correct left hand drive fitting headers. I hope fujitsubo isn't that dumb to send J-spec headers to the US, but you never know. I'll check it out.

thanks!

I hope you get the right ones islandsnow. The Fujitsubo headers are of the highest quality and you will be very happy with them. I have heard only good things about the workmanship on these headers.

Let us know when they are installed.

Happy Holidays!
