So, why did you scrap the stillen? Do you hope to gain hp with this vs the stillen?

Very interested in clips and dyno comparison.

Perhaps I'm just slow, but I've been following this thread and for the life of me I can't figure out the difference between the TDX and the Shockwave V2. Also, Tony, do these dual setups weigh less than stock? If so, how much?

Thanks

The TDX is the mid-pipe, ShockWave V2 is the axle back component.

I scrapped the Stillen because 1) I fell in love with the sound of the Shockwave, 2) I was becoming less and less enamored with the sound of the Stillen, and 3) wanted as much power as I could get.

I just finished making the video with all of the pictures and clips. I'll have a thread up shortly. Again, though, I don't have a dyno comparison. The butt dyno, however, is telling me of some substantial gains. I already have the "before" dynos from just a month ago. I'll have "after" dynos sometime in the near future and post them up.

Sorry for the noob question, but which of the above is better for power and what are the noise and sound differences?

Got the V2 axlebacks mounted the other and took a short video. Fitment and quality is of course great as usual.

Sorry for the noob question, but which of the above is better for power and what are the noise and sound differences?
The exhaust in the top picture is the Shockwave (tm) Dual Ti. Its a dual exhaust with Y pipe.

The Dual Ti configuration (in the top picture) has been phased out of production and is being replaced by the new TDX design for the 350Z. TDX is the new baseline configuration for the 350Z.

The exhaust in the bottom picture is the TDX (tm) for the G35C. Its been out for a while on the G35C and is now available for the 350Z. The TDX is a True Dual exhaust with a "X" pipe configuration. Hence the acronym TDX. This exhaust makes a little more power than the Dual Ti system by using a new merge collector with a slightly lower internal volume and a slightly shallower merge angle. It also uses more of the dual 3" tubing at the midpipe section for reduced flow resistance.

Notice how the first ~1/3 portion of the TDX exhaust system consists of dual 2.5" tubing. Using 2.5" tubing at the front section of the exhaust keeps the torque gains high. And then the last ~2/3'rds of the exhaust system is dual 3" tubing. This provides wide open flow in an area where there is no scavenging to be had and provides maximum HP at high RPM.
Just enough 2.5" tubing is used to maximize the torque curve and the rest of the exhaust is made wide open dual 3" so as not to interfere with peak HP.

Phasing out the older Dual Ti and focusing production on only the TDX design increases the economy of scale and allows for favorable price controls.
TDX = Better performance. Better fitment. Better sound. ...Better exhaust system for the same price as the Dual Ti.

BTW I still owe you guys a introductory thread on this new design for the 350.

I'll see if I can get it posted for you tomorrow.
Tony

Thanks, this v2 is really nice, my fav out of all the combos. Even better than the novas imo. Down low it is very quiet and there is absolutely no drone. I just got a few drive by and in cabin. I'll convert them and post them up tonight.

Tony your exhaust rocks!

What is the difference between the Shockwave TDX1 and TDX2? These include the XYZ pipe right? So I would only need to order the ART pipes to finish off the full exhaust?
