Default looking for people that have this setup:

aftermarket exhaust using either the stock y pipe or aftermarket one, test pipes, and aftermarket headers.

The reason I'm asking is because I have been looking into why I have a rattle coming from the passenger side of my ypipe , I have gotten rid of the heat shield for the ypipe and that didnt solve it, got an aftermarket y pipe (stillen) and that still didnt solve it, so now I'm thinking the rattle is coming from the heatshield on the passenger side header. So before I go wasting money at the dealer to get the heatshield removed I was wondering if people that have the above setup dont have the rattle since they cant use the heatshields with the aftermarket headers.

I had to take mine off when i swapped to headers, and the passenger side is WAY WAY WAY too easy to get out

I would if I didn't think it would be a PITA . I have that same rattle people get after installing test pipes. Look up Berk Test pipes on youtube theres a clip somewhere there with a yellow Z33 . I refuse to believe the sound is generated by the test pipes because I'm only getting it from the passenger side, and the sound only occurs between 2k-3k rpms then as the rpm's climb the vibration of the engine changes so the sound goes away until you let off the gas and the rpms go back down through the 3k-2k range. So its pretty much behaving like the heatshield hitting the header, its the only heatshield that I havent tried removing . if its not this then the only thing that it could be ,would be one of the 02 sensors not being screwed tightly in the bungs.

I'll remove it hopefully this weekend and let you guys know

do a lil spirited driving and then go to a place where the bay is set up to go under the car, like at a jiffy lube or maybe a midas, then walk under the car and try to pin point the rattling while the car idles. you may have to offer a 6pack of bear or a couple of dollars to bribe the techs

yes thats what I'm also thinking , I've looked underneath and had someone rev it and pin pointed its only coming from the right side. I took it to a shop a couple months ago to get the y pipe put in and they also said that it was cause of the o2 sensor on the test pipe (right side) , they showed me that the guys that installed the testpipes originally cross threaded the o2 sensor, but I was a bit skeptical about the shop because even though it is a speed shop its not something like Forged Performance and I have heard some shady stories about them so I didnt really believe the guy and just thought they were trying to make more money than the install for the y pipe. Thanks I'll have them check that aswell. Have them unscrew it and rev it to see if the sound is no more which is something the other shop didnt show me.

I have pretty much the same thing going on. The noise only seems to come from the right side, and it sounds like a thin metal tapping. Mine got a lot worse after installing the Stillen Y-pipe. I was thinking it is the design of th Y-pipe, and the juction of both pipes tapping off each other. I noticed Stillen failed to clean up excess pipe and weld the two ends. I can't figure out though, if that was the case the noise would be heard from both sides, but it isn't.

I have been dealing with it, but I would like to cancel it in the long run.
