Same issue, not enough flex. I'm running the Motordyne XYZ pipe, it seemed like it had lots of flex when I installed it. I'm really happy with my setup, maybe you could look into a different Y-pipe.

I have AAM HFCs. Ever since they were installed there has been a lot of popping and what not from the exhaust. Is that normally characteristic of HFCs? If so, is there a better brand I could get?

I have the Berk non resonated test pipes on my 2007 NISMO. The power gain is well worth it. but BEWARE! if you still have a stock exhaust, DO NOT install them until you get an exhaust system on. the rasp is unbearable and it will turn your Z into a Honda... but when you have an exhaust, its a beautiful thing!
here is a link to what my car sounds like with the M2 true dual exhaust.

so far, im not regretting the test pipes. but i did make it to 5k miles without a SES light coming on.... but now it never goes away... but im living with it.
also, my upper gaskets on my test pipes BOTH formed a leak in the exact same place... odd. ill have to replace both of the gaskets.

old setup ->
Stillen Headers
Stock Cats
Nismo S Tune Cat Back
-Stock cats cracked, Y pipe flex pipe is damaged
-Everything lined up perfectly
mutt setup ->
Stillen Headers
CNT/ERZ 200 Cell HFC
Stillen Y Pipe
Nismo S Tune Mid
Nismo S Tune Muffler
-notes
- HFC brackets don't line up with brace
- Either Y pipe or HFC are short in length because there was a 3/4" gap
- I am waiting for HFC to crack and will update when they do
