Default MPG Gauge Flucuations After CAI Install?

I just installed an AEM cold air intake over the weekend. I usually keep my computer pod on Ave MPG/Speed. For the last 2 days I've been noticing my gauge making big changes while driving and even idling. Ave MPG starts going down while city driving or idling and starts going up quickly on highway driving. On a 15 mile drive at half traffic and half freeway speed the gauge averaged 19.1 MPG but went as low as 15 MPG and as high as 26 MPG on the same trip. Never had this happend before the CAI install. It usually only moves a few 10ths over time. Called AEM to make sure I installed the CAI correctly and they said yes.

Is this normal or something that goes away later? If it is not, anyone know what could be wrong?

I know its not the same car but I put the Injen CAI on my 98 Blazer (yes I did. say what you want) and the MPG readout jumped around for about 300 miles then it stared to level out but got worse MPGs.

Did you disconnect the battery? It resets if you disconnect the battery.

I didn't disconnect the battery. Does that make a difference?

Hey! Same problem here. I just got A NISMO CAI and my MPG jumped to 33mpg ? Huh?
I am hoping that it corrects itself after a little while. Let me know if anyone knows.

Our MPG also went up but also went down due to heavier foot weight after CAI install.

I wish that were the reason. That would be a lot more fun.

I have had the AEM CAI for probably 6 months and I have never noticed the problem.

I have the INJEN CAI and don't have any issues with it. I did notice a SMALL increase in MPG IF my driving style remained the same as it was before the CAI. I get about 0.6 MPG more.
