Default Kinetix V+ question

I bought a Kinetix V+ plenum from a friend and all I was given was the plenum itself with the brass fittings already attached to the plenum. I was wondering if I need anything else? I've seen some installs and it seem like that's all I need but I want to make sure before I start my install.

Thanks!

youll need the 90 degree brass fitting for the two coolant lines near the throttle body. OEM bolts work just fine around the plenum and all hoses that connect to it use the OEM clamps.

I have the newer version, I just torqued mine in a star pattern with a small wrench till they were nice and snug. Seriously, do not overtighten, it's not necessary. I used a small dab of blue threadlock on each bolt, that was supplied with it. I also used orange gasket sealant all along the outside base of the plenum. Applied a thin line.

After about a week I checked all the bolts to make sure nothing worked loose. All good after a year of DD so far.

your OEM strut bar will hit the plenum and it turn will create vibration throughout the entire car. I experienced slight mild to medium vibration at the steering wheel while idling at stop light.. never figured out why until I removed the OEM strut and the vibration went away.

I got APS front strut bar now since it doesn't sit on top of the plenum.

Yes, This. You will most likely need 2-3 hardened washers under each bolt. Make sure you do not strip any of the bolts/holes. It's very easy with these, start by hand and if it doesn't go in easy STOP! lol

I took a sheet of paper and slid it between the plenum and bar. If it gets snagged anywhere then it will rub.

Another thing that you can try is tightening the strut bar more. That causes it to bow upward in the middle which can give you enough space. That worked for me with the MD 5/16" spacer. However, I'm not sure if the Kinetix plenum is higher than stock plus a spacer.

Yes u can use 2 or 3 washers. Or if u call kinetix and tell them whats your situation is they might send u the spacers the come with the kit for a few dollars . The brackets where my bar would sit those are the brackets that come with the kit when u get it new.

op, you will likely need a new oem gasket if this has been used on a car before, the cork is barely reuseable.
also use a very small amount of liquid gasket.
do not tighten them w a ratchet. Read their website. 6-8 lbs torque. thats hand tight.
Check for leaks by spraying maf cleaner around the gasket while its running, rpms jump even in the slightest, its leaking.

do full ecu reset.

drive.
Doesnt really do much but sound cool until you buy a cobb or an Osiris tune.
Fender washers on ea strut bar bolt works just fine.

So you're saying I should take off the cork gasket and get an OEM gasket to replace it?
