Default Kinetix SSV IM "Dyno Numbers"

Rather than add to existing thread that was started by lsdunique on 04-04-2005 titled: "New Intake Manifold", Long awaited, with Pics and a thread by myself on 04-08-2005 titled: Kinetix "Intake Manifold" FI testing, I decided to start a NEW thread.

Both of those threads showed dyno numbers comparing the V4 and Kinetix "Prototype" IM. There was some criticism on the tuning. Well, it has taken some time to get back on the dyno and do a proper tune.

Before I post the numbers, I must give "Special Thanks" to Ryan of Speed Dreams here in Albuquerque, for his patience with me, staying late and of most importance an outstanding tuning job! IMO, Ryan is one of, if not thee "Best tuner in New Mexico". If you have any questions he can be contacted at: Ryan@swlightnings.com

Run #74 is V4. Run #77 is IM "Prototype". Run #105 is SSV. Temp in Albuquerque during run #74 and #77 was in the 60's. Today, the temp is in the mid to upper 90's. Here are the results and comparisons. These are probably the first Kinetix SSV IM "Dyno" results on an FI "Z":

"Barzten1" will have his SSV IM installed on Monday, May 23rd. Ryan / Speed Dreams will perform dyno pull with OEM Plenum and SSV IM.

Nice gains . Still got to think that the new IM evens out the air flow to both N/A and F/I cars .

Since #105 was the SSV all tuned up and #74 was the "V4", which I agree, i'm assuming to mean "Kinetix V4 plenum", the difference is 78.6rwhp...

the difference of 27.5rwhp that you are thinking about is between the "IM prototype" and the finished & tuned "SSV Manifold".

so, again, I stand amazed that a manifold can produce almost 80 extra peak HP at the wheel!

edited to add:

regardless of whether V4 means just an upper plenum mod, or wheter it means before the manifold (i.e. stock)... 80rwhp is 80rwhp... that's a ****ing HUGE gain!

Bill, the 337 was the V4 with Vortech SC. Then we made the switch to the Kinetix "Prototype" without tuning (out of the box) and showed 388. Those both took place in February. Now with Ryan performing his TUNING MAGIC on the Kinetix SSV, we are at 416 rwhp and 311 torque. Keep in mind the temp here in Albuquerque in February was in the 60's, while yesterday we were in the mid to upper 90's, plus we are at 5200 feet.

but most with a decent tune with the stock plenum get about 370-380, so basically, there is about a ~35hp gain with the plenum. still pretty good for just a plenum.

i cant believe nobody has done a NA dyno yet. I just purchased my v4 plenum 2 months ago but if the gains of teh new SSV if significant over the v4 on NA .. i'll drive down to kenetix to buy one : ) and sell my v4 for as much as i can get for it

Can you explain the different max rpms on the dyno graph? If those rpm numbers are correct, then the only apples to apples comparison would be at stock rev limit with the same tune which is about ~+32 hp. This shows the IM's potential. A good tune didn't hurt either. I second the need for a NA dyno.

The individual doing the pull with the V4 and IM Prototype in February stopped the recording. Last night I insisted the rpm limit on the dyno be increased to 7200 rpms as the TS flash set the rev limit at 7100+ rpms.

Wow, those are some great numbers! I was gonna go with a plenum spacer because it seemed like a great bang for the buck, but this dyno has just conviced me otherwise. Guess I'm just gonan wait a little longer and see the reviews when its up for sale.

btw, GREAT #'s

Did you tell the dyno operator about the numbers shooting up if you press the button before you reach redline?.....Just wondering if it happened again or if he didn't do it this time.
