Question Do I HAVE to replace my cats and headers?

So I'm getting an exhaust pretty soon, but my buddy keeps saying for a Z I have to change out the cats and headers.

Are they all welded together on the Z or what? Can I just throw on an exhaust without new cats and headers?

you can install the exhaust and will bolt-on with out any moding to the piping that's for sure. I have done it in my Z. and who the hell says that you have to run different cats and headers to get the exhaust to fit. BTW what exhaust are you running ??

The entire exhaust system is bolted together. No welds. So you can mix and match whatever you want. You dont need to replace the headers or cats.

Although if you are getting an exhaust you may want to replace the cats just for performance/sounds sake.

Put the car on a lift and have a look. Find a diagram of the underside of a Z identifying key components. Learn yourself.

headers and cats only need to be removed if a flux capacitor is installed. It's in the manual....
