Default Tanabe Medalion Touring Reviews

Just wondering if anyone would like to give a long-term update on their experience with this exhaust, especially with a stock-cat setup.

I tried a reply within this thread but have heard nothing.

I have the hyper medallion, with stock cat. Love it, had absolutely no problems. It's nice and throaty below 3500 rpm but actually gets quieter the higher the rpms so you only really hear the VQ. The best part absolutely no drone on the freeway, it's completely whisper quiet.

Little lounder when you start the engine. Idle is the same compare to stock. You only notice increase of sound when you push the gas. And the sound gives you confidence that you want to push more. No sound or drone at all when you cruising.

I got Hyper Medallion for two years. Then switched to Tanabe Medalion Touring. I have HFC, but I changed back to stock cat for CA smoke check. After about two years of owning this. No rust and it still look like brand new.

Make sure you also clean the exhaust muffler and tips when wash your Z to keep them shiny!

Thanks for the feedback!

I just want something a little different than stock but still retain that VQ elegance without rasp/drone. Plus, I don't want to break the bank with an exhaust. I was thinking Motordyne or NISMO at first, but I can save some $ with this setup and still sound just as good. It seems this is my best option.

I always wash my exhaust tips no matter which vehicle it is. Like you said, it keeps them shiny.

Have you also considered the Invidia Gemini?

Yes I have. I would consider that #4 on my list. Do you have the Gemini or know of someone who does? I know other members like that as well. Any advice?

It's all based on if I want to keep saving up for the Motordyne or not. This would be the extent of performance mods for me. I'm not looking to track my Z at all in the future. It's a DD in the summer time and that's it.

The Gemini is a good quality exhaust. If you're looking for a day to day exhaust system the Gemini is the perfect balance. It's a louder than the Tanabe but quieter than the Motordyne. Have a listen here with test pipes:

Yea, I've seen this one. I have listened to every possible video I could find of all 4 exhausts with everything stock but the exhaust system. I wouldn't be going with HFC or test pipes at all. They all sound so good. Price wise the Inividia is the best bang for the buck for what you get.

I'm just back and forth a lot on these exhaust systems. I wish I was able to hear them in person. At least I have it narrowed down, it just depends on what I actually want to go with now.

Thanks for the feedback Itzcashew.
